Performance issues on good PC

Hi, recently (past few months) destiny 2 has been running poorly on my computer with good specs - GTX 1660ti, 16GB RAM, i7 10750H. in the past it has run perfectly at medium - high settings. now I get fps drops when in menus, inspecting characters and talking to npcs as well as in combat. It can drop from around 90 to 40-50. this also happens regardless of in-game graphics settings. anyone have any idea what is going on and how I could fix it?

I have a Lenovo Legion 5 with the i7 10750h cpu and 16 gig ram and RTX 2060 so I assume you are playing on a Laptop. Laptops have never officially been supported in any form with Destiny 2. I did game on mine when I first got it back in April 2021 and it did run the game fine but the temps it created while doing so was just more than I wanted to subject the machine to for long gaming sessions. I mean cpu Temps were in high 80'c and sometimes 90 to 91c which are normal for serious gaming laptops but I wasn't going to play 5 or 6 hours that way. So i just went back to Xbox One X. Anyhow laptops have never been supported by Bungie so basically they are going to say if it works it works and if it don't well we said it probably won't work very well.
