That every story arc. Since halo. Maybe 343 could make destiny 3 and work towards some type of conclusion that sort of makes sense. Bungies games sell the story based on its complexity and keeping everyone wonder how possibly so many loose ends could be neatly wrapped up. Spoiler they don’t and they can’t. It’s easy to shoot guns in the air. It’s a lot harder to catch all the bullets before they hit the ground.

Sounds like you struggle a lot with ambiguity. Some people just prefer stories that hold their hand, I guess. That’s cool.

Bungie did halo 1-3 and reach and odst. All in all they had satisfying endings. 343 had halo 4 which I personally thought was interesting. But Halo 5 was pretty bad: destroyed the ending of halo 4 and turned a fan favorite protagonist into a crazy Bond villain. Now don’t get me wrong. The Bungie of today is NOT the Bungie of the halo days. Different people. And while destiny has interesting lore it has retcons and abandoned stories. But to compare the 343 halo stories with the Bungie halo stories and say 343 knows how to wrap things up. That’s silly.

  • Wow I had no idea they made those games. God thing your here with your super obscure bungie knowledge. I though halo 2 was made by eBay. Thank you so much for telling me things that aren’t common knowledge.

I wrote that down because you suggested 343 could do a better job since they handle halo. But their writing for the halo games has been pretty bad game to game. While the OG Bungie halo games flowed into each other quite well and tied up the loose ends. So you want the company that screwed up the writing from the own franchise they inherited to try to fix this one?

  • My biggest disappointment with 343 is them changing who the Forerunner were. In bungie's halo, they alluded to forerunner being ancient humans and they actually had evidence to this hidden throughout the first 3 games leading up to the reveal by spark in H3. 343 changed it so that ancient humans weren't the forerunner but were their rivals and modern humans were the inherenters. Also the whole Didact thing and Prometheans felt very random and dont seem very halo. I do give them credit for bringing back blue team and letting them fight along chief just like in the books.

My biggest issues were with 5: Guardians. We had a great swan song of Cortana’s death. It was handled great. She said all she wanted to do was touch John once and welcome him home, and that’s what she got. And John probably showed the most emotions he had in all other games combined in that moment. The Ai got to experience being human, and the killing machine was also human for the first time in decades. Then. Nope. Bad enough they undo that goodbye, they turn her into a Bond villain. The “I’m going to fix the world by making it burn, because I’m the only one who knows what to do” personality. Maybe had they treated things differently or we saw more of her coming to that conclusion it would have been better. Instead it was just thrust upon us. I mean her plan wasn’t horrible in a purely logical point of view. Humanity wasn’t quite right yet, still too political and corrupt. And organics had almost destroyed the galaxy twice in the last 9 years and then let a genocidal maniac almost kill a planet. So from her POV, putting a Smart AI in charge on the mantle isn’t the worst idea. And the warden seems to have convinced her that SHE was the inheritor. But again. It was how they went about it. They just turned her into the queen *itch of the universe on a dime.
