Idea for a Vex Dungeon, Pt. 1

2: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/259749849/0/0 Hey all, I’m back with another Dungeon idea. My last one was Cabal/SIVA-themed, now I’m gonna try a Vex one. Part 2 will be posted after this due to length, and a separate post for loot/lore will go up after that. Until then, enjoy. The Timeless Song: Vex Dungeon Location: Well of Flame, Arcadian Valley, Nessus Description: “Guardians are going missing inside the Well of Flame, lured by a strange Vex song. Step inside and survive the depths of Nessus.” Part 1: Follow The Lure
Players spawn in The Cistern, and are directed towards the Well of Flame. A gold-colored laser is seen shining out of the top. A strange Vex melody can be heard echoing throughout the area. Players fight through Fallen and Cabal that also appear to be investigating the disturbance. Strangely, no Vex can be seen. Players head inside and go through the portal into the Well, inside the room with golden lasers shining from glowing prisms. This room is now a puzzle that players must solve by moving the lasers so they reflect off all the prisms simultaneously while shining into the center of the floor. This will take a while. Once done the floor opens, revealing a descending stairway. Players follow it. After descending for a bit, players enter a dark room but are now frozen in place, as they have been captured in Detainment bubbles similar to Vault of Glass. The room lights up to reveal various Vex closing in led by a giant Minotaur named “The Trapper.” Players must shoot their way out of the Detainment bubbles and then kill all the Vex in the room. The Trapper fights like any Minotaur except for when it focuses on a specific player and detains them (again kinda like the Templar from VoG.) As the fight happens, the door players came in from at the top of the stairs will close. The Trapper will eventually be killed.
Part 2: The Sirens
After the Trapper’s death, another door in front of players will open into a dark area which players will walk into called “Anchor-Intersect.” The roof seems to be a simulation or projection of a starry night sky. There are 3 branching paths in front of the Fireteam that each individual player must take separately (or one player can go through one at a time if alone.) If more than one player goes down a path simultaneously, a killfeed message will say: “Only one may pass.” Then a random player will be teleported back to Anchor-Intersect. On the walls are three unknown Vex statues. If you walk to them, a greyed-out prompt says “Requires Mark of Choros/Ilios/Amberos” depending on which one you stand near. Path 1 The left path courses with Void energy in the walls. After initially hearing the strange singing in harmony, here you will only hear the bass notes being sung. You find a jumping puzzle made of a mix of Vex stone slabs and natural rocks. Skeletons of other Guardians, Fallen and Cabal can be seen at the bottom. Walk the path, occasionally shooting Hobgoblins on distant platforms. On the other side, the portal teleports you to somewhere not on Nessus; now you are in the Vex Network, in a simulation of the Moon called “Luna.” You are standing on a cliffside, with another cliffside covered in Vex shielding sitting across from you. The gap between them is too far to jump. On your cliff is a sync plate that is dormant. On the other side is one of the mini-bosses: a completely new Vex unit called a Siren. Sirens are skinny Vex with feminine bodies (see included image above for reference, not sure who originally drew it but all credit to them.) This one is called “Choros, Siren of Space.” Choros is levitating and waving her hands. The bass singing is coming from her. Upon standing on the sync plate, the shields protecting her disappear. While standing on the plate, it slowly drains your Super and Ability energy in order to power off the shield. Choros stops singing to look at you before roaring. Choros begins shooting small Nova Bombs at you, one from each hand. You can dodge them, but must get back on the plate within 5 seconds or her shield will return. Once your Light is drained, the shield around her regenerates, but she will shoot through it at you. You must dodge her while eliminating Goblins called “Karakon(s)” that appear until your Super, Grenade, Melee, and Class abilities regenerate. Then repeat the process until her health is down to 1/8th. When in the Goblins phase, a killfeed message will say: “Choros charms her minions” Which will give Void shields to them as protection to shoot through before killing them. Once she is down to 1/8th health, Choros will switch from Nova Bombs to Nova Warp, teleporting to your cliff and chasing you to attack with Atomic Breach before going back to Nova Bombs. Luckily you don’t need to do sync plate stuff now, just run while fighting Choros until she dies. Once done, another killfeed message will say: “A Siren is made Mute.” All players will see this. Also you receive a perk called “Mark of Choros.” A loot chest drops that you can collect, then you go back through the entry portal and teleport to the hub again. Once there, you realize the statues are of the Sirens. You walk to Choros’ statue and place her Mark. The statue will glow purple and the head and arms will move from facing the floor to facing the starry sky simulation above. Path 2 The center path from the room courses with Solar energy. Like the first path there is a jumping puzzle, though this one is made from platforms that appear and disappear. The singing heard here is only higher treble notes. The bottom cannot be seen. There will also be Hobgoblins here so watch out for them. Once at the end, go through the portal. You emerge in a Vex simulation of Mercury. You are on a platform high above the ground, with other platforms ahead of you that are appearing and disappearing in 30-second intervals except for a large platform in the middle. On there is another Siren: “Ilios, Siren of Stars.” Ilios (pronounced with i at the beginning, sorry for confusion) is floating above the platform, waving her hands and singing the high notes of the song. She is surrounded by dormant Hobgoblins. The player entering will cause Ilios to stop singing and scream, waking the Hobgoblins called “Bauchan(s)”. Ilios will activate her own Well of Radiance that will coat her platform, healing herself and her Bauchans and amplifying damage dealt by them all. A killfeed message says: “Ilios blesses herself and her minions” The platform you come in on will start burning so you must jump to another one. You will see a timer in the killfeed called “Platform Timer” that is 30 seconds. When it hits 0, the platform will disappear and you must jump to another. Meanwhile you must shoot at Ilios and her Bauchans. Fortunately the Well of Radiance they use isn’t as effective as the real thing since it heals slowly. Focus on damaging Ilios. You can kill as many Bauchans as you want, but they’ll respawn eventually. Once Ilios is down to 1/8th health, she will switch her Well with Dawnblade, fly and hover while chasing you and throwing swords at you. Without the Well, the Bauchans can be killed more easily, but they’ll still respawn until Ilios is dead. Once she is, the killfeed says again: “A Siren is made Mute.” Bauchans will de-spawn, you receive the Mark of Ilios, head back to the platform with entrance portal where a loot chest will be, return to Anchor-Intersect and place Ilios Mark inside her statue. Her statue will glow orange and face the ceiling. Wait until group is finished (or move to next path if alone.) Path 3 The right path is filled with Arc energy. Notes of the song that aren’t high or low are heard. One last time, there’s a jumping puzzle but this one’s relatively simple, with the chances of falling being quite small. But there are cracks in the ground that shoot lightning bolts, watch your step. If you get close to a crack that lightning is about to emerge from, you will hear rumbling thunder a few seconds before as a warning. Usual Hobgoblins attacking you before portal, you go in. On other side is a sim. of Earth called “Terra.” It’s an open field in the EDZ, though with some jagged rocks and platforms. There is a rainstorm happening. In the field is the last Siren: “Amberos, Siren of Storms.” She is levitating while waving her arms and singing. Get close enough and she’ll stop singing, make some Vex noise, and attack. Unlike the others, this fight is more up close, with more run-and-gun gameplay. Occasionally a killfeed message will say: “Amberos summons her minions.” Several Harpies called “Soul(s)” will spawn that shoot Arc bolts. If you get too close, they will emit a shockwave that pushes you back and gives you the negative perk “Marked by the Current.” If Amberos hits you while you have the perk, it will deal more damage. Strategy is to keep the Soul Harpies under control while damaging Amberos. Once Amberos is down to 1/8th health, she will switch from Stormtrance to Chaos Reach, firing it randomly. Eventually she is defeated. The killfeed says: “A Siren is made Mute.” A loot chest drops, you receive Amberos’ Mark, return to hub, insert Amberos’ Mark into her statue causing it to glow blue and turn to face the ceiling. Note: Any of these 3 bosses can be done by anyone in any order. The only restriction is that only 1 person may go into each boss room at a time.
Thanks so much for reading! Again due to length, I’ll post the boss encounter separately. Stay tuned.
