Please let us break down shards into prisms, and prisms into cores

I've been grinding GM recently (loving it to my own surprise) and have prisms and shards overflowing to the extent that I'll have every exotic on my hunter masterworked by like Saturday. Problem? I might have 5 cores. Shout-out to the gentleman in the comments here who pointed out the blue item workaround. Game changer.
