Right now there’s no point in going out doing patrols and public events collecting chest or planetary materials. Adding a grandmaster mode that has higher tier drops like enhancement cores, exotics, or higher stat armor and weapons would bring a meaning back to patrols, you just stay in for as long as you like and other guardians patrolling by can hop in to and help. It shouldn’t give out loot on the scale that grandmasters does with all the ascendant shards and adept weapons, but it should be a good place to grind for exp, gear and enhancement materials. Possible higher level bounties as well.

Patrols have been pointless since Day 1 D1
-
Grandmaster orbit.
-
They could always rework public events to drop better loot once you trigger heroic? What Bungie should do is add rotating heroic modifiers each day for triggering it maybe include champions I mean heroic events are so easy now
-
I just want some high level world boss with unique loot
-
Tbh if it was on a new map that's larger and denser than anything we have, they could turn pvp on inside of it too and make it a lawless wasteland akin to Mad Max. Make enhancement cores, cranked up legendary drop rates, and cranked up XP the reason to brave the place. Add in some world bosses that are hard af to kill for adept versions of various world drop weapons. I wouldn't propose adding in higher exotic drop rates or prisms and shards, because nightfalls need to stay relevant, but I think an optional zone like this would be super fun.
-
Kujay made a good video on this matter.
-
I think a solo patrol mode with a higher difficulty would be very fun. Perhaps no revives and the longer you're in there/the more enemies you kill/solve some puzzles then more interesting and tougher enemies spawn.

The one thing I feel that Massive did a pretty good job in The Division 2 was allowing the players to select the difficulty they wanted for the open world - from the normal all the way up to Heroic (Div2 version of Grand Master) with everything scaling to that level - from XP gained, the quality of the rewards and to the enemies. In addition to the difficulty selection, they also gave players the option of selecting from a set of modifiers called Directives that gave a bonus to the XP gained. The directives ranged from ammo hoarders to no fog of war to enemies using special ammo types. I would be happy if Bungie took a similar approach within Destiny as Massive has done with The Division 2's open world. Bungie keeps talking about there being 3 core activities, Strikes, Gambit and Crucible, but they completely overlook that there is a 4th one with the Open World. The open world is just as much an essential part of the game as the 'big' 3, but has been sorely lacking with any real attention even back in the first game.

This is a great idea for a open-world feeling mode. Increase the enemy density to start with and add some special objectives. It could start with generic low-tier kill or collection patrols, and escalate to boss patrols or public event completions. Finish the objectives list and an Escalation style boss spawns. The final boss gives a new unique weapon after a finish. Basically a more permanent and harder version of the Moon thing nobody does except for catalyst grinding. Rewards: - Patrol Low Tier (Kill, Collect, Scan Environment): Enhancement Cores and Upgrade Modules - Patrol Mid Tier (Harder Collect, Item Scan): Upgrade Modules and Enhancement Prisms - Patrol High Tier (Miniboss) and public Event: Enhancement Prisms and Exotics - Heroic Public Event: Exotics and Prisms guaranteed - Final Boss: Ascendant Shards and Unique weapon. Revive tokens, but no kick to orbit. A full team wipe with no tokens resets the current section of the quest. Decently high light level (Master) but use high enemy density to make it more threatening like a GM. Great idea tbh, but they should probably focus on getting the current playlist activities new things first. TL/DR: Basically make it a harder and more permanent Altars of Sorrow. Give it a unique weapon per planet and each planet on a rotating cycle each week with the flashpoint. Great idea but playlists could use some help first.

Master bounty!
-
LOL jesus. Yeah... that's what this game needs. Let's work on patrol mode. Nevermind the other modes that are as hollow as can be. Bungie, please work on patrol mode I love killing dregs in an open field.
-
The title gave me a laugh
-
I liked the random boss spawns we had in destiny 1. Every zone had one with ads and they had a chance of dropping exotics. Much more difficult than the little core bounty bosses we have now. Made patrol areas a lot more fun. Would love to see these type added again.

Then no one will play grandmaster nightfall to farm those resources.
-
wOw MoRe ElItIsT cOnTeNt!!
-
Master, not Grand Master. Many people struggle with gms, though many do find them easy.
-
Is this a troll? Or do you just want hand outs from bungo
-
So something like Escalation and/or Contact.
-
Can we get a GM Tower as well.

Edited by Demon_XXVII: 7/30/2021 11:34:16 PMI had an idea last month (got a ban so I can’t find it) Edit - here’s the short version. https://www.bungie.net/sr/Forums/Post/245718618?sort=0&page=0&path=1 With 1-9 person campaign & patrol play throughout (entire patrol areas are now truly kickass - with Adventures & Lost Sectors) and a new Prestige difficulty (Some locking your gear & fire teams) Allowing for a play through of the entire Y1 Red War, COO/Warmind, Y2, Y3 storyline via weekly missions (Recall the daily missions from D1 & Ikora? Or the first Solstice event missions?) Play through the difficulties to unlock the higher tiers & pathways to high stat (choose double spikes & spread) armour & targeted weaponry/perks (Similar to how Division 2 allows Tiers) All types of Champions abound, Saboteurs, Enemy Rallies, Surprises etc, as 1-9 guardians go back & run through the campaign (3 missions per week, checklist for completion) & try kick arse using every skillset they have Pinnacle rewards, spoils, targeted loot, even some rare ornaments & shaders 👍

Patrols have been irrelevant since vanilla D1.
-
this is a fantastic idea. patrol instances with GM light levels and modifiers plus a load in requirement of a high enough light level and at least one anti-champion mod with weapon.
-
Edited by svenkir: 7/30/2021 1:49:09 PMA lot of people saying this wouldn't work, but Legend and Master lost sectors do work. Have you people never done a patrol in your life? Scan, Scout, and especially VIP patrols require you to leave the public areas and go into a side area. A Master VIP patrol could have you killing a Taken Meatball or some other strike boss level enemy, maybe a little tougher with maybe some simple mechanic. Chance at say, maybe 5 Enhancement Cores or for one of the random world-drop exotic weapons (Thunderlord, Tractor Cannon, etc)
-
Patrol for me is fun at times. Because you can use whatever you want and just shoot stuff.
-
I like this idea. Something like an endgame activity for casuals. Make it difficult without adding champions so that you can create any kind of build you want while getting the satisfaction of knowing you made something good enough to hang.

I made a similar post a while ago although I suggested giving them a unique loot pool with cool cosmetics. Also they need need to add master HVT that drop unique loot, like a random HVT spawns in but they have the health of a strike boss.
