Extra lives in competitive/survival playlist

Noticed extra lives being given in competitve playlist since Season of the Splicer came out and it has been really frustrating to deal with. Haven't seen anything about it in the "Known Issues" page, so I figured I make a post about it here. It is easiest to explain how this works with an example. Let's say that the enemy team has 1 life remaining and you have a chaos reach. You pop chaos reach and kill all 3 of the enemy team in quick succession. Since they only had 1 life left, only the first person to die to chaos reach should respawn since he/she used that last life. However, how it is currently working is all 3 will respawn after dieing to chaos reach, essentially granting that team 2 extra lives. That is just an example of how it could work and it is not specific to chaos reach, but it is most evident with this super because it can kill 2-3 people very quickly. Based on my experience, it seems like if people die within 1-2 seconds of their team running out of lives, they will not get knocked out. It is incredibly frustrating to lose a round because the enemy team simply gets more lives than yours. I am assuming this is a bug and I hoping that it can be looked into and fixed sometime soon. If this is not a bug, I would really like to know why this works the way it does.

  • They've confirmed that this is intentional. It's hard for the system to keep track of who got killed when, so it can't really determine who it should bring back. If it didn't revive all of them, it's possible they'd instead be losing out on a life.
