We need another Exotic Armor "Balancing" and Buff (How can we Improve the Next "Exotic Pass"?)

Okay so its no surprise that some Exotic Armor Pieces are way outclassed now that we have a fresh set of Armors. But even some of the newer Exotic Armors could already use an upgrade, and with that extra time before Witch Queen I want to generate some ideas on what Exotic Armor Pieces need a change, and how to treat them when Bungie has the time to work on them. My question to the Community is: "What Exotic Armors specifically would you like to see changed to make them more viable, and how would you change them?" Hopefully this can start a discussion and bungie can take some of our ideas and put it in the game. However I don't want to see any "Nerf This!" or "Your wrong and that means your stupid" responses. ​ Firstly, Bungie decides what outliers that are too powerful. Yes we can complain about things that are broken and it might help them fix things sooner. But this post is intended to garner Creative Solutions, and hopefully spark new ideas for older or disappointing exotics. To do that we need to look Positively at under preforming exotics, and try to keep there original themes and feel while making them preform better in every area in the game. (TL/DR: CREATIVE BUFF IDEAS ONLY!) If something preforms well in PvP But not PvE, that doesn't count. (and vise versa) The exotic must be outclassed in all Endgame-ish activities: PvP Raids Strikes/Nightfalls Solo Lost Sectors Dungeons and "Seasonal Content"* *Seasonal Content is things like: Empire/Nighmare Hunts Matchmaking style Activities such as Override or Sundial and Pinnacle Missions such as the Exo challenge, Expunge, and Presage/Harbinger Furthermore to be considered "Outclassed" The Exotics must have more than one of these qualities: Somewhat Redundant* Extremely Situational** and all around not Rewarding*** *For example both, Code of the protector and One Eyed Mask can provide an over shield. Therefore Icefall mantle is a bit redundant and outclassed because of its downsides. **Peacekeepers are situational because they only effect Stowed SMGs or player Movement and handling with an SMG in hand. The most benefit you will get is while you run two SMGs and you don't see a lot of that in PvE or PvP. ***Khepri's Horn is too hard to use for an effect that is now overshadowed by Burning Steps. It requires the correct placement of a barricade on even ground, and you have to lead your shot because of the fires travel time. In order to defeat multiple Guardians they have to be in a line standing almost still and unaware of you. Solar kills recharge your barrier but its quite a few, and this effect is redundant. in PvE those kills are better spent building up a damage buff. Below I will post my thoughts on Icefall Mantle (eventually) but all underperforming exotic armors are up for grabs. But keep in mind this is intended as a "cleaning up" of the current exotic pool. If you want to change something so drastically it no longer fits its Name this is not the Post to do that in. (My idea for Icefall Mantle should set a good example to replicate)

  • Hey guys as a warlock main I have to post about the stag. It is one of the coolest looking but most useless exotic armor pieces in the game. How cool would it be to see it get a rework? My idea is how about when running a void subclass when critically wounded activating your rift immediately gives you max health but no rift, so kind of like eating a grenade. I know that bottom tree void Walker can just eat grenades but this would open up the other trees as well and you wouldn't have to sacrifice your grenade so It would be good in pvp and pve. Also because it is limited to only void subclasses you couldn't have OP supers like chaos reach with it.

  • Oathkeepers should also act like ophidian spade but only with bows. As such, it would: Hold bow charge indefinitely Remove 2 frames from the Bows Draw Time Increased handling (Swap, Stow, ADS) Increased reload speed. Usable in both pvp and pve when paired with speeding up add clearing bows like Trinity or Ticuu's, or it can be paired with Leviathan's Breathe for speedier single target clears. OR Hold bow charge indefinitely Remove 2 frames from the Bows Draw Time Increased accuracy and precision targeting when firing from the hip Less time ADS, more opportunity to gauge your surroundings in both pve and pvp due to standard FoV being greater than ADS FoV.

  • As promised my Idea for Icefall Mantle: WHY THEY UNDERPREFORM Currently Icefall Mantle grants a powerful over shield at the cost of 2/3 of your mobility tool kit. By this I mean you can't sprint, jump, or slide, and that's a huge deal if you use any weapon or class specific perks that utilize any of these movement mechanics. On titans it locks you out of using 5 of your Light specific abilities and 2 of your Stasis Aspects. It makes it harder to retrieve your Throwing Hammer from Code of the Devastator. It doesn't Work with the over shield granted by Code of the Protector's Defensive Strike, and either doesn't offer benefit to your Subclass, or is extremely outclassed by other subclass specific exotics such as Skullfort, Doom Fang, and Phoenix Cradle. The only subclass it actually works well with is Code of the Siegebreaker, allowing you to stand in your sunspots longer while reaping there benefits. Unfortunately there are plenty of better exotics you can use that don't make you an easy target in PvP, or a clay pigeon in the waiting when a taken phalanx or Stomp mechanic gets to you. (as I mentioned Phoenix Cradle) Citan's ramparts for example, give you the protection of your Barrier in PvP without locking you out of another Barrier for 20 sec or slowing you down to a crawl. With the right positioning its an extremely powerful exotic even without sunspots. this is always superior to Icefall because it does the exact same thing without slowing you down or negating the effects of your guns and subclass abilities this is what I mean by underperforming, there is next to no reason to use Icefall Mantle in any activity. I would even go so far as to say it harms you to use it in Patrols as well because it could force you to wait 20 sec just to jump up onto a ledge. Now the question is "How do we fix the exotic while still keeping its themes and playstyle?" CHANGES AND ICEFALLS PLASTYLE PREMOTION It was originally portrayed as an exotic for tanking titans to use, giving them a beefy health bar and lending itself to a tanks mentality. But as I mentioned before Citan's Ramparts do this already and even promote a more skillful positioning in both PvE and PvP. This is better for the community and well balanced because in some ways its more restrictive on your "movement". Because of this I think Icefall should get a rework from the ground up. instead of giving an over shield that can be acquired in tones of other ways, it should be focused on making your tanky titan truly terrifying on the battlefield. it should be paired with over shields but grant an entirely new effect that reads as follows: "Replaces your Barricade ability with Glacial Shift. "Activating Glacial Shift creates a field of shifting ice around you pulling in nearby enemies and slowing them. Melee Kills against slowed Combatints grant a brief Over shield" "While under the effects of an over shield gain Glacial Guard damaging nearby enemies and Granting damage a resistance." Before people say its over powered, let me clarify the specifics: #1 The pull of Glacial Shift will always be smaller than the pull of a Duskfield Grenade. (this way poor positioning against a stasis guardian will get you killed) #2 The slow will be under that same changes of the most recent Stasis Patch allowing hunters to easily dodge out of range and warlocks to jump and dash out of range. (so its not a death sentence if you know its coming) #3 You don't automatically get an over shield, so you are still squishy until you get a Melee kill. The over shield Granted by the exotic itself will only be as powerful Defensive Strike. (However it will only last 5 sec. This gives just enough time to chase someone down and re-activate the effect, while also running the risk of loosing the buff and being in a bad spot.) #4 All over shields will activate this exotic. Defensive Strike, Whisper of Rime, even Blessings of Protection and over shields granted by other players on you. (this will add a team dynamic as well as mesh with at least 2 titan subclasses. One in the Light, and one in the Dark depending on the stasis build) All of this is subject to change right now witch is why I'm hesitant to post right now because I want to see how the recent stasis changes effect 3v3s. my objective is to make Icefall balanced but still Powerful and Interesting, but if this idea would dominate Trials then obviously it needs tweaking. But this is the level of detail I'm asking for, a well though out idea that can be picked at and built on. (not SMGs go Brrrrrrrrrr... smh)

      Boots of the assembler- A warlock should not have recovery/rift energy paused while standing in a well that’s healing teammates. The simple solution would be if you place a new well, the old one gets cancelled. That fixes having too many wells placed at one time, and lagging the game as a result. Recovery is a Warlocks main trait, the current fix negates that fact.
