Eramis and Taniks were both alive back during the Fallen's Golden Age, and both seemed to still be in their physical prime when we killed them (Taniks before he lost is original body).
Given that the Fallen's Golden Age was at least several centuries ago, this can only mean the Fallen have an extremely long lifespan.
Awoken live a long time, but goddamn the Fallen live a lot longer.

Edited by superskybro: 5/7/2021 12:37:21 PMEliksni probably had naturally long lifespans to begin with, only for it to potentially triple when the traveler came (Since that's what happened to humanity) Don't forget about Fikrul though, him and Variks are so old they remember the Sketh (or whatever they're called)

Edited by dramund3: 5/8/2021 3:31:28 AMAs with humans I suspect the presence of the traveler tripled the lifespan of the eliksni aswell

its strange because earthborn bugs have a lifespan of about 60 days. Elinksni are astounding.

They live off of ether, its kinda like injecting yourself with testosterone to increase muscle growth and performance, ads up
-
Which begs the question of how come there is an unlimited supply of them. Creatures with long live spans have usually a very slow reproductive rate.

Edited by H1vac: 5/9/2021 1:58:42 AMI’m pretty sure the Awoken can live potentially forever in the Distributary. Looking for the card now...forgot looking now...

As someone else mentioned, it's likely Ether that gives them the long lifespans. The Fallen worship Prime Servitors as their creators and lifeblood and in turn the Servitors give them Ether, which described as "life sustaining" in lore. Each house has its own Prime Servitor and Archon Priest so logically, I'd say the symbiosis of Servitor/Fallen can make them almost immortal. Servitors were around during Whirlwind, and are described as beacons of hope when the Traveller left so they themselves are ancient and likely the reason why Fallen have lived so long without the Traveller.
This stuff is on the Destinypedia, I'm not this clued up on lore, I just did some reading. 😅
With Smallen now existing, it's probably a Grogu situation where the baby in the trailer is already 70+ years old.

Right? Eramis, craask, variks, taniks... this list goes on and on. I assume its the ether that keeps them this way, but it could be their biology.

The King's Kell was the Oldest Eliksni since their Worldwind. He had a Vast knowledge of the old ways. Like Variks, but the King's Kell was much older. As long as they have Supply of Either they Grow and live a long time.

Whirlwind [couple hundred years as the traveler isn’t said to move fast] —> golden age [said to be a few centuries] —-> where we are now I think its honestly just plot armor the whirlwind was a extremely long time ago
-
Yeah that’s pretty nuts. I wonder if this is just their natural biology?

We know of several Eliksni who lived pre-Whirlwind. Variks and Craask are two others. Craask seems to have been in a leadership role of some kind before the Whirlwind, and is the only Fallen I recall being described as old and weak, having been Kell of his House for centuries, presumably. I can’t recall the source, but I vaguely remember Saladin as being nearly 1000 years old. If that’s the case, Craask almost certainly lived for more than that, before he was killed by Fikrul.
