Unpopular Opinion: Mayhem is Fun
Been having fun in crucible, anyone else enjoy this mode?
Should it stay permanently in the playlist?
It’s seems to be a good way to get Shaxx bounties done and crucible gear without the sweat.
Just my humble opinion. Please share yours.
If you do play, what’s your favorite subclass to use?
Edit: Some of these responses are priceless and thanks to everyone who shared what they like/love about mayhem. So many positive responses and that was the point.
Sadly, apparently to some, not all, the “Unpopular Opinion” apparently really upset some of you. I mean seriously people if you’re getting bent about that, then there’s nothing I could tell you that will help.
All I can say, was to me it was unpopular for a while, and if I’m wrong about that, that’s totally cool, but to be so upset about these two words....cmon, lol, ya need to relax and smile more.

Mayhem is the only crucible mode I enjoy and only ever enter the crucible when Mayhem is an option, so yes please make it permanent.

1 ReplyI absolutely love mayhem. It’s the only pvp mode that I find enjoyment in and willfully play. I wish it was permanent, but I’m happy enough that it’s on a 3 week rotation.

2 RepliesNo, I do not enjoy team deathmatch of any kind, even if you get your abilities at the speed of light. I prefer objective game modes like capture the flag or open world pvp. I have moved on from team deathmatch. It was fun in the early 2000’s when it was fresh, but it’s not fun anymore.

Mayhem is indeed fun, but I wouldn't put it as a permanent Playlist. Also, some tweaks are needed for some Supers/Exotics in order to bring balance into it.

Unpopular opinion: Regular crucible is SUPPOSED to be mayhem. But people want it to be competitive

1 ReplyI absolutely LOVE Mayhem. It's a PVP experience you don't have to take seriously or get all sweaty about. In fact, this mode is what got me playing PVP in the first place. I was a 100% PVE only players for years. After playing Halo 1, 2, 3 , Reach, etc. PvP for so long, my anger started getting the best of me. Lol So after many broken controllers, broken consoles and even one TV screen, I decided to walk away from PVP. When I started playing Destiny 1, I made a choice to only play PVE. All missions or steps involving the Crucible I deleted (This is why I still don't have Dark Drinker or Thorn, etc. 😫) . Same when I started playing D2. So a few months ago one of my good friends I play D1 and D2 with (he rarely plays pvp) told me he jumped into Mayhem and had a really good time. He then continuously bugged me to jump him with him. I told him no, but he was persistent . He knows me and knows how I feel about PVP. After a while, I knew he wouldn't keep pushing me if it was a shitty sweatfest......SOOOOOOOOoo, I gave in. I remember asking him "Oh man what weapons should I use? What stats? What mods? What exotics?"....He told me it did not matter, don't worry about it because you would rarely be using any weapons. A knawing Hunger/ Witherhoard combo would do (ok ,I still dont have the Catalyst for this because of pVP kills, so I'll use this). I main Titan Behemoth, so I just used that. Well...I HAD AN ABSOLUTE BLAST!😀😀😀 This was before the nerf to the statis Titan, so I was literally able to walk down 3 or 4 guys at a time, all shooting at me, didn't matter! I would pop my super around the corner and just slide till I seen red. Lol. It didn't matter if I Died, It was from another Super, of course I'm gonna die. It's all good I thought I could actually get Pinnacles from here now (I main Titan but play all 3) so I went in with my Hunter and Warlock too. We played the entire weekend! 😁 I got my Withoard Catalyst done finally and Pinnacles all around. Now we always play when it comes around. I do wish it was always available but understand why it's not. Once I got a little more comfy with maps and shooting too, I now will even play Clash.😎👍🏻 Eventually I will try comp too. MAYHEM IS ALWAYS FUN.

1 ReplyEdited by Whopping Dingers: 4/20/2021 8:36:53 AMI enjoy mayhem for three reasons. Using sleeper simulant. Where maps have 1 heavy spawn, throwing a bubble over it and shooting anarchy on the ground. Watching trash cans use stasis while I thundercrash off the map and fly back in to get them.

It should have stayed as the original iron banner game mode. At least iron banner was fun. It was relaxing and enjoyable. No light level enabled. You could play at your leisure. Bounties weren’t as difficult to deal with. Iron banner mayhem was the best thing to happen in destiny 2 vanilla. It was a whole hell of a lot better then having iron banner that’s stressful,bounties are a pain,complaints constantly,and anything else that goes along with pvp being unbearable. An yes I’m going off of what is posted here on the forums because no one not even bungie could pay me to play this horrible trash fire of a game.

11 RepliesI enjoy Mayhem. It's one of the modes that emphasize fun, and not "competitive" play. It's also a great playground to learn how to counter Supers and how Supers work against each other. I could complain here about Shards of Gala or Blade Barrage, but I did that enough in the past and gave up hope that Bungie ever fixes this. It has been several years now, and Mayhem being a rotating playlist makes that issue even lower priority. This is also why I would like to leave it a rotating playlist. Personally I play all Supers in Mayhem, but I prefer odd Supers to have more fun. Nova Warp for the Blink and in-super teleportation, Whirlwind Arc Staff to throw back Supers, and Celestial Nighthawk Golden Gun to eradicate people.

1 ReplyMayhem is the only crucible I play. With broken matchmaking, nerfed guns and abilities, and sweats running rampant, it's impossible to take PvP seriously in this game. By definition, Mayhem is not to be taken seriously. Therefore, it's the only PvP mode that actually fits in Destiny.
