if someone’s gone flawless, they should go against other flawless people

i’m really tired of getting screwed out of even 3 wins by people who have gone flawless. pls make it so that flawless people can go up against other flawless people only for that weekend

    • This doesn't work. If anything people need to get over their fragile egos. Temper their expectations and stop caring so much about it. It's a game after all. Not a 10 grand tournament. You solve the trouble you have now by incentivising the need to play in trials. We don't have enough of an incentive to get everyone interested. If you inflate the player pool. Your chances of matching the top 5% gets smaller because there's more of a chance you'll meet people who aren't the top sweats. Stamp the cheating down to a minimum and you'll inflate that player pool rapidly. Add worthwhile incentives to play and you inflate the pool some more.

      • Two servers, once that account has a character gone flawless for the weekend, they get moved to the servers for trials that is filled with people that have gone flawless that weekend too, only takes one, then you can go up against people with two flawless or five hundred, If they move the skill over each time, the player table through the weekend of skill level will dwindle to a point where everyone has a chance to go flawless by sweating it out with others in that skill range. Plus make it a paid account only activity to make it so it’s not worth carry cheaters and other such types. Then once the weekend closes the two trial servers are offline. And booted up again when it starts, but to add I know nothing on how networking and servers work for MMO.

      • They did many things right in d1 trials - 1 flawless per character and I really would love to see that (If you feel entitled for 20 God rolled messengers a week...I am sorry that is on you but it kills the Playlist for the average and if you can go flawless this week you cant tell me you cant do it next week) - No farm table: you could get any flawless weapon at any given week and the rewards on the way there were also randomized. What we have now is 2 good weeks and the rest are all utter garbo - passage coin system: hear me out. It had a great system where if I bought every little thing on it my flawless runs could go smoother. - rewards: yes there were many rewards, and I could receive them at 15 times a week. Due to bounties and the 3 to 7 win rewards They did many things right and I enjoyed trials in d1 because it wasn't always against the top 1%. It was filled with every skill pool in it. I never went flawless but I definitely enjoyed it every week with my friends. Now it's a toxic cesspool of entitled sunlight deprived kids with 200 flawlesses. You can say git gud but at some point you can't learn anymore. Eventually your potential has stopped. I am not saying make trials easier but give even the average players reasons to play a full card other than the 3 win bounty because lets be honest. It didn't fix anything

        • Been saying this for years. Why should someone who’s never been to the Lighthouse before ever come up against someone who’s been 200 times?? Also, why should a team on their 3rd win ever fight a team on their Lighthouse match? You can argue about the player pool not being large but, I reckon if the matchmaking was better, more people who don’t touch Trials would play it because at least they’ll be against people they can fight. Trials is the pinnacle PvP activity, but it and its rewards should still be accessible to the casual and less skilled players.

        • Wow. These are the comments expected of a very toxic PvP community. I put this out there to the “Git Gud” crowd..... would you tell a middle school basketball team to stop whining and git gud if they were put up against the Chicago Bulls of the 1990s? Personally, I’ve been on the first game of a card, went against a team where one player had 49 flawless this season and one of his teammates had 48k trials opponents defeated. The average k/d of my team was .42 Skill brackets need to exist and the “once flawless play against a higher tier” is a great way to fix that. Trials had a shit low population because of the above example.

          • I've never been flawless since Trials was introduced in D1. But I always get matched against gilded flawless professionals before I can get 3 wins on my card. I know it's endgame pvp but matchmaking is a joke right now.

          • Either that, or have some sort of MMR rating system or something along those lines. We know that there are methods the game uses to calculate your skill level, so just have that system in place to have teams with similar average MMR levels go against eachother. It’s the only way people will actually improve, and I believe it’ll make matches overall more enjoyable, because it’s not fun to get stomped, you don’t really learn anything from getting stomped outside of that the enemy team has more time in PvP than you, and while it may be fun to stomp, you also don’t improve from just annihilating an opponent. And I can already hear all the streamers and top tier players complaining because it would increase their que times by quite a long amount of time, but honestly? They’re the minority in this situation

          • Recoveries break this model, unfortunately. They are like sand-bagging in golf. You can have someone who has never been flawless this week being played by a pro gamer and the pro gets an easy card until a certain number of wins begin to match like cards. Something needs to be done, though, you are absolutely right. I just can't think of a real good way. Hopefully the next people to redesign Trials will come up with something.

            • Agreed I'm trying Osiris trial, my team is not the best and it's ok Those number are from destiny traker. the first one is my team MMR the second is the oposit team the last thing is the result of the game 968 vs 1587 >>>loose 967 vs 2103 >>>loose 965 vs 1698 >>>loose 1043 vs1065 >>>win 1056 vs 2004 >>loose 1061 vs 1100 >>win 1139 vs 1759 >>win what I mean If bungie made a minimum of effort, the trial would already be much more bearable. I am not going to broach the subject of the PL or the cheat, bungie has neither the means nor the will to fight against. They could at least set up a maximum MMR difference between the teams (500pts for example) This would make this game world more attractive. They could even put a cap of 500pts between each member of a team to avoid the PL. I don't think it's the most complicated to set up. And I would clearly be willing to wait 5 / 10min to find an affordable game. Rather than be crush by a team English

            • Of course, a sharp cut won't work, but I like your idea of dividing people according to their skill levels by using the count of flawless. 0 Flawless/1x 7-win: Ameature Level 1-2 Flawless/3x 7-win: Experienced Level 3-5 Flawless: Veteran Level 5-10 Flawless: Professional Level 10+ Flawless: Expert Level In such case, we only meet people with the same level and the count of flawless is only viable in a season. It is very reasonable for people to get flawless harder and harder, new players are not titled to be their free stepstone to flawless. Oppositely, we need to think of people getting rank downed, we need to keep people staying in the player pool as they may find themselves less competitive at a new level. For players who fail to get a total of 6 trials wins in a week (at least 15 rounds are played, less than 40% win rate), they will be demoted to the previous level and they may find their rivals to be more suitable again for them. Of course, you may say people will lose intentionally for getting weaker players but this will cost them cards and wasting their time for no rewards, I think this is a dull investment. And now we need to think of the reason for people getting higher ranks. First of all, trials rewards rotate every week, this is a huge motivation for skilful players grinding flawless time after time. Also, in the subsequent seasons, getting 7+ (or more) flawless can be one of the gliding quests of flawless, this makes gilding flawless seal more "flexing" and rare, this is what pro players and sweatlords really love about. Bungie may also give a special reward for players getting 10+ flawless, such as their own weapon skin or accessories. For potentially talented new players, they can start off raking up easily by just using the count of 7-win. I know the above content is far from a complete system but what I want to say is ranking system is a must for trials.

This was my worst week in my trials history , but I still fought dozens of matches till I got where I wanted to be.

Nope. Solution should be about getting players into the existing playlist without sperating the playerbase and simultaneously diminishing the value of the flawless chest. Lazy, band-aid fix at best. Certainly isn't long term, and will likely result in more issues down the road than it will fix. Think about it like this: 1. Imagine a player that can't go flawless in the current system. They eventually would in the new system as the non-flawess pool got smaller and smaller, but then would immediately leave the playlist as soon as they entered the flawless pool. There would be no reason for them to keep playing. The vast majority of players in that pool by that point would be far, far better than them. One win in that pool would be harder than it is now. 2. Now imagine a player now who can go flawless, but only barely, in the current system. With your system, they go flawless once and then all chances after that are significantly reduced, as all the higher skilled players are there and the lesser skilled players either aren't there yet or aren't going to stay (See point 1). With no increased rewards for the harder matches and no additional rewards for grinding out and improving, why would they stay? They wouldn't. They would leave. 3. So now the non-flawless pool is getting smaller by design and the flawless pool gets and influx of players that rapidly die off, resulting in the exact issue we have now, but with extra steps. No thanks.

All the posts of people who are afraid someone is going to get three wins even though they are not good enough to go flawless. Honestly ... how greedy, possessive and entitled can people be ... just let them have their terrible-roll hand cannon and get over yourselves. Besides, you’re all farming noobs to go flawless which isn’t exactly “proving yourself worthy” either. It’s not exactly an endgame activity if you’re farming the lower end. That would be like me getting endgame strike rewards from an adept strike where here and there they have a 1350 champion.

                  • I think the player base is to small now. Iv been flawless a few times in d2 and solo queued my way to not forgotten when it was in its prime so I'm probably slightly above average but the last few season have just been awful for trials. I struggle to even get 3 wins. I don't know about other platforms but Xbox is full of sweat lords that teabag and send toxic messages. PvP is a horrible experience in destiny 2 but as I said I think it's down to player base like a team beat me in the frist round of my card and they got flawless for it ? Iv never seen that before.

                  • In theory this might work but in reality I'm not sure. I've dipped into trials a few times and, for the most part, it's been completely toxic and a mess. The only times it was decent was when things like the hand cannon first came up at 3 wins because it enticed so many players into the mode. First week I went flawless and it was because I wasn't facing sweatlords every single match. This week we dipped in and repeatedly got matched with players that had already been flawless 10+ times this weekend and had well over 100 flawless total. It wasn't fun. It was a stasis fueled shit show. I have no problem with the best players getting the best loot, but in its current free for all form it's a completely unsustaionable model - as has been proved by the pummeting player base. Really it should be tiered in some form, with better rewards at the higher tiers. This promotes players trying to win at lower levels, gives them the chance to practice and improve and still lets the sweatlords feel like....whatever they feel like when they run about in QP with the best weapons.

                    • The wins should ramp up in rewards to make low ends of the card not super sweaty. And now that its changing to sbmm, it’ll be at least a lil bit more bearable.

                      • So you want people that are better than you removed from your pool so you can get rewards easier? Don’t reply and deny it. Every player has access to the same supers and abilities. Flawless players don’t get special supers, or grenades, or melee, or class abilities that make not flawless players die. Everybody has access to the same weapon, armor, and mod pool. Maybe you have to grind for specific perks and RNG sucks. But there isn’t a single weapon perk or mod that makes a gun instantly kill you by pulling the trigger. An argument can be made, I guess if you’re really reaching, that some adept weapons are only available to players that have gone flawless. But adept mods still don’t make guns kill you by just using them. So your answer is to pull better players out so you don’t have to face them. If they do that then the non-flawless pool should get crap drops since they’re playing in the crap pool.

                        • In skill-based competitions, there are different classes and skill gaps. You wouldn't have an amateur boxer in the ring with a professional boxer. It would make sense to me for Bungie to create at least two different competitive levels for Trials or Crucible. This would make PVP/PVE players feel like there being taken seriously, and I think open opportunities for higher levels of professional paid competition for Destiny like Esports someday.

But to be perfectly honest, I still won’t try the playlist. It’s not worth being told I should commit suicide just for being bad. I doubt anyone can convince me to try a game, even after the update.
