My answer is yes and no. This idea is actually part of my guardians story. My hunter gets a shank as a friend when he reprograms it along with having a fallen group not want to kill guardians or what have you. My warlock gets both a thrall and vex harpy as allies. Takes over the thrall with some taken power. She’s an awoken so yea after dreaming city and fight with riven we all know the awoken has ties to the darkside. As for the harpy she basically gets rid of whatever the vex goo is and reprograms it since it is a machine after all. It still remembers her and acts like a machine an all but knows she didn’t have any ill intentions when the harpy attacked her first. Then my Titan gets two war beasts and a female psion to help him out. Yes I specified a female psion because with the lip of his ghost he can communicate with the war beasts to make getting help from them easier but since he doesn’t know what they eat if anything trapping a psion or at least turning a psion helps cause the psion can be the tamer/trainer to keep them in line. Also to to the story/idea he goes after a psion that as much as she believe in what she is doing she has had issues with being mistreated by the cabal. So easy to convince someone to turncoat when offered better. But I say yes an no. Yes because it would be great to have a companion or a few when playing alone. But no because it will cause the issue of players wanting to have the companion or companions when playing with there raid team or what have you along with pvp players wanting them as back up. Then there would be h to e extra issues of balancing. Do they effect stats? Do they actually do anything besides being another cosmetic. How much damage do they do? Will the revive me if I go down? Can I outfit them with shaders or weapons? Do they get any special powers? So yes and no. Because there are a lot of variable to consider besides asking a question for the hell of it.

I like the idea of “pet” to aid in combat. I think in the lore tab for DMT, the former owner of DMT was having a conversation with another guardian who was gifted a warbeast from the Spider. As cool as that is, I think one of the closes things in Destiny gameplay for having a pet was using one of the RoI artifacts that let you temporarily make a red bar enemy become an ally when you hit them with a melee attack. Or a better example would be the Arc Soul that Stromcaller Warlocks can bring up with bottom tree rift or Getaway Artist exotic gloves.
