The state of Stasis in PvP: a genuine critique.

Before you read on, understand that this is not going to be a "whining about stasis again" kind of post, but rather a genuine breakdown on how I, a random insignificant guardian, would prefer to see Stasis operate in PvP activities. I believe Stasis in PvE, although not my cup of tea, is fine as is and fairly enjoyable to play, and I will not talk about it too much in this post. This will just be a proper critique that points out what I see as pros and cons of the stasis subclasses in PvP activities, and how balance should be approached. TLDR at bottom. For one, I don't believe the subclasses themselves are the problems in balance. Sure Titan super can maybe use a bit of tuning, and Warlocks wizard staff range could use a bit of tweaking as well. But in theory, the subclasses can be very balanced if it weren't for the inherent issues that stasis as an element brings to the table. The primary problem that stasis have are the fact that freezing is often instantaneous, giving the effected player no time to react at all, and that the freeze renders a player useless for what feels like 10 years. By having instant freeze abilities like ice-wall-o-death grenade and some melee abilities, it knocks the players chance of a possible outplay or underdog gunfight win to 0%. Compare it to a light grenade, for example. Lets say I were to be stuck by a fusion grenade for 150 damage and left at 1 shot of health. Even though I am more than likely going to get 120 HC body shot to death, there is still, at the very least, a CHANCE for me to possibly get a well placed sniper headshot, shotgun barrel stuff, or even just an effective outmaneuver to safety and keep fighting. With an instant freeze, however, you cant do anything at all but watch as the opponent breaks you apart for a free kill. All they had to do was slightly aim a grenade or melee in your direction and win the entire fight. And in the miracle that you do survive the initial opponent, either your teammate killed them or whatever it is, you are still frozen for several seconds. And in a game like Destiny, a few seconds of downtime can be almost certain death if you play against even slightly intelligent players. We all know pressing [key] feels almost pointless as 9 times out of 10, the freeze will leave you for dead in the end. But how do I propose to fix these issues? The first recommendation is to change how the freeze works entirely. Instead of a full-body, completely crippling freeze, why not a root mechanic instead? Render the play immobile at most, keeping arms available for gunfire and maybe even abilities. This will still give the stasis player a great advantage in the gunfight, but also doesn't leave the frozen player completely incapable of survival. The second recommendation is to have freezes last a fraction of the time that they last now. Half a second, 1 second at the very most. This will have generally the same effect as the first recommendation, but will pressure the stasis user to be a little more precise and quick in order to capitalize on the gunfight advantage. The third recommendation is having freeze effects be freeze-over-time, to allow a window of opportunity before your inevitable freezing death to save your life. This will pressure the effected player to push or flee the stasis player as fast as possible in order to possibly survive. Whatever the case, Bungie, PLEASE don't implement all of these at the same time. Stasis is extremely fun for a lot of players, whether it's because it is objectively better than most light subclasses, or because it is customizable and combo-heavy, I do not know. But the last thing that needs to happen is stasis becoming worthless in PvP. If anyone else agrees or disagrees, please reply (respectably I hope) and I hope to see other people's thoughts on the matter. TL;DR: Stasis is powerful because it freezes players instantly and for too long a time. I recommend making freeze only immobilize, freeze last <1 second, OR freeze happen overtime and not instantly for balancing purposes. Please be nice in comments.

Yah, I wanna support game devs, but these aren't exactly devs anymore. They got bosses and their boss is cold hard cash.
