Hello, I recently bought a copy of Destiny The Taken King (The physical release of the game not the singular DLC) For the PS3 from Amazon. This was a brand new copy, and it arrived unopened. I played through the base game and had a blast, but when I went to download the DLC's that had supposedly come with my purchase I encountered a problem. On the sheet of paper was a little notice beneath the redeemable code. It read: "Valid: 09/15/15 - 09/15/17". This was very confusing because nowhere on the Amazon page and nowhere on exterior of the box was anything about the DLC Code having an expiration date, but sure enough when I attempted to download the DLC content it said code not valid.
Now I doubt I'll be able to get the code I received to work because when I approached Sony with my problem they said, and I quote: "Since this is content provided by Bungie, Destiny's publisher, we recommend you contact them for availability of the DLC you were trying to redeem." And Bungie is definitely not going to help.
So I'm out of luck when it comes to fixing this specific expired code. However, the reason I bring this up is because of Bungie's straight up false advertising on Amazon, and the exterior of the box, that led me to this situation.
Please spread the word about this, so no one else falls for this again.
Bungie's straight up false advertising on Amazon
Bungie aren’t selling physical copies of old games through amazon. If the seller didn’t mention the codes would be out of date that’s not Bungie’s fault. Most download codes have expiration dates, and for a game this old it’s pretty likely they would have expired by now.

I have the same situation. The matter is what if I wish to keep my retail physical copy, since I am a game collector, but still wish to play "The Taken King". Any complain to the retailer will lead to return of the product and just money refund.

You would need to contact Amazon for further assistance.

All retail codes for the original Destiny expansions have expired. Bungie does not issue or replace expired codes. At this time your best bet is to return the game to the retailer as defective and buy the collection directly from the console marketplace.
