120 handcannon tuning.

I'm just going to get right to the point with this, they need to be tuned. Not necessarily because they are broken, but because their LACK of tuning has allowed them to creep into a level of power that's only caused by being ignored and over buffed. When EVERYTHING else has had their range or damage tuned except another that receives a substantial buff...chances are it's going to become meta. 1.Their range needs to cap at 40 meters and have their overall bullet magnetism toned down. 2. Their damage should be reduced from ~91 per headshot to ~86 per headshot. So what effect will this have on them overall and what is my goal? It slightly reduces their maximum range they can shoot at for full damage, while decreasing how far outside of that range they can shoot for sufficient optimal ttk damage (3 crits). This will also make them a far less forgiving weapon so their consistency at hitting that 1.00 at close ranges (and longer ranges) will demand greater accuracy than it currently does, while not directly removing a level of forgiveness such a slow killing weapon should have. It also reduces how cheesy rampage and swashbuckler is with them while also making them less rewarding to have light level advantage due to their excessive damage. Things that will no longer be possible: 1 headshot and 1 base melee kill. 2 shot kill with rampage or swashbuckler. 2 shot kill with light level advantage. 1 crit and 2 body kill. Hopefully not chest "precision" shots. Pve basically doesn't even have to worry either, because that range was already far more than it even needed to be and they can separately tune their pve damage to still be exactly the same.

  • Honestly, the biggest issue with 120s is just Bungie’s netcode. The .2 second TTK difference is completely mitigated by the fact that latency is so bad that you can hit the .82 TTK with a 140 but because of the awful tick rate it’s closer to 1 second, effectively removing 120’s biggest drawback. This same issue applies to snipers, as flinch will frequently apply after you’re already dead since the server doesn’t register your shots even though you shoot first. If bungie actually modernized their tick rate/net code it would fix so many glaring issues in this game
