Caster frame swords need some love. Here are some ideas of how to buff them.
We all know caster frames are massively underused currently, in PVP and PvE. One of their problems is their ammo economy: 8 ammo per heavy attack is just ridiculous. While this stops them from being spammed in the crucible it also makes them nearly useless in PvE. Here are some changes I would suggest to the team:
Caster frame swords can now be charged for additional effects:
- Arc - after a heavy attack hits an enemy or reaches its destination, a lightning storm will be summoned
- Solar - after a heavy attack hits an enemy or reaches its destination, you light the ground and the surrounding enemies on fire
- Void - the heavy projectile now becomes a black hole and makes surrounding enemies gravitate towards it. deals significantly reduced damage.
The Arc and Solar swords would be focused more on dealing AoE damage, while the Void sword would be used primarily in PvP. Charging up the swords would require the attacks to trigger on button release instead of just right-clicking, but this shouldn't affect them.
Making the charged shots consume only 6 ammo would also be great, but these additional effects are in my opinion enough.
