The future of Pokemon is uncertain for me

Game-freak dropped two bombshells a couple days earlier: they announced the remakes of Diamond and Pearl as well as an entirely new Pokemon game set in Sinnoh that happens to be an open world adventure. This has placed me in a very interesting and awkward scenario, will I make my true return to Pokemon? Sad story time. Back in 2017, Sun and Moon were released onto the Nintendo Switch to rather positive fanfare from people including myself. At the time I thought this was going to be the start of a new golden age for the franchise. One of innovation and originality, what I expected was rewarded with quite the opposite. A sequel nobody wanted released with some story changes but little else. The main draw of the game is that you could get lots of legendary Pokemon. Flash forward 2 years later Sword and Shield are released to incredible profits, but poor reception. Pokemon was already steadily growing in popularity over the years and by this time had become massively famous. The criticisms of this game are rather depressingly correct and I don’t have the heart to talk about it. Suffice it to say that I haven’t played a new Pokemon game in over 4 years. These recent announcements however have given me a level of hope. From what little we know about the new titles, they suggest levels of effort are being made. The recent games have all been criticized for their graphics right? Well they are changing that and keeping the small little guys that we familiarized ourselves with as kids. I personally think I can get used to these Funko Pops, especially since the Pokemon look normal. However the recent decision makings of the company hold back my expectations. Seeing how their most recent remake was ORAS certainly doesn’t help either. Will nostalgia win and bring me back to the wooloo fold? Or will my childhood dreams be dashed by a flurry of boring and lazy decisions? It could go either way at this point.

Oh no an anti-consumer game series that has grown exponentially more so in the recent times seems bad? Who could've seen it? No but really Pokemon died at Black2/W2 Meaning those were the last good ones.
