Mercies shouldn’t be common. This isn’t normal.

I’m SO tired of 1 sided matches. Iron Banner is worse than normal crucible but it still happens too frequently in normal crucible. Couple this with being put into matches in progress that get mercied within a minute or two. Bungie, what is happening? Something is wrong here. Is anything ever going to be done about this? These matches aren’t fun being on either side. The Crucible isn’t fun at all anymore. Edit: I’m up to 5 in a row in IB now. 2 were matches that I joined in progress. And I’m supposed to get power weapon kills. This will be the first IB quest I don’t complete since Forsaken. Edit: 7 in a row. Edit: 8 in a row but I did manage to get 1 more heavy kill right after the timer expired. Edit: 9 in a row. Can we go for 10 mercies in a row?! Find out soon! Edit 10: Ladies and gentlemen.... we did it! 10 mercies in a row! Edit: The unthinkable has happened. 11 mercies in a row.

  • This is what 100% CBMM looks like. It bits PvP pros against player that are still learning how to control the sticks. Not advocating for a 100% SBMM system either. But good lord, it's clear to me as just a player that there needs to be a balance of the two. How this continues to elude the "engineers" at Bungie is beyond my comprehension .

Ib should be on rotation one week clash the next week control. Im really getting fed up with control as the only playlist to play weather it's normal crucible or ib. Also quit putting ridiculous specific weapon bounty's in this game mode. This also contributes to a bad I'm game experience as players are more focused on that

  • Agree. I think solution is simple. Make matchmaking by connection, then double-check skill, remove quit match option. If you will be kicked out because of internet problem - you fine, if you quit by changing character - you fine once in 24H, if quit because you closed game - you fine. If you suddenly become slow on internet in specific situations (6-7 win in Osiris for example) - you will be banned.

  • Always get out against a no life behemoth with god roll steadyhand, felwinters, and dunemarchers that has like 10k hours in the game and gilded unbroken

  • I completely agree. I hate getting the mercy rule either cuz my team is winning or losing. It's getting to be a real problem. I honestly don't get whats so fun about sweating as hard as you can in control, rumble, or any of the valor/casual quickplay playlists. Competitive, Trials, and Iron Banner I can see however, but not casual. Most of us just want to jump in and play around in quickplay after work and with everyone in there sweating their balls off to win just doesn't make it fun at all. The other night I was messing around with non meta weapons and the enemy team had 3 guys on there, not in a fireteam, and they were just going on streaks using trials strats and three-peeking with swords and emotes. Like really? in -blam!-ing quickplay you're going to do that?

  • This REALLY needs some response from Bungie. I mean, yeah 6 or so bits if Seasonal loot isn't dropping often and that gets replied to. THIS, however effectively makes Crucible entirely bad in one fell swoop. We need to know if this is on their radar, being looked at, being restored, even if how is not yet certain. Bungie - please step in.

  • 80% of the community are pvp incompetent, and the matchmaking takes advantage of that.

    • I'm a casual player but Crucible was the one thing that I used to always enjoy in Destiny (win or lose) and it always kept me going through the content droughts etc... Iron Banner? I'd be there religiously every month, but that all ended last summer. I've tried 1 Iron Banner since and I've hardly played Destiny in the last few months but for a couple times with my kids. The constant mercies are too much, even being on the "winning" side gets old. It's not fun and Bungie needs to fix their sh*t IMHO.

    • There are a ton of mercies but every time im on losing side its because my team does not try to take zones. Zones win the game and i will bet most the matches you lose are because people are just not playing the match the way its meant to be played.

      • The Iron Banner is a gamemode that is built to be easier to swing strongly in. By guaranteeing you 30 seconds upon a tricap, it gives time for sweeping advances. If your team can't rally, you'll be trampled.

        • This games pvp algorithm is designed to make you lose. It literally tells you while you’re queueing into the games It doesn’t say [i]Searching[/i] for players It says [b]Evaluating[/b] Players! If it was truely connection based WHATS TO EVALUATE? And it’s not a clear cut SBMM algorithm either. It’s the lobby balancing going on. Check out how atrocious my teammates were. And this isn’t an anomaly. Last week, played 8 games of Showdown. I got one good player out of 20. The rest were just awful. Going into IB not stacked? It’s an automatic half my team is going negative. AUTOMATIC.             • The only reason the mercy plays out every match in iron banner is because of the zone control BS, any team that manages to capture all 3 flags once has a 90% chance to easily mercy now. The mechanic simply needs to change

              • Its the lockout mechanic. Normal Crucible you'd just have the other team swap spawns and grab the opposite zone, IB prevents this and allows the team who is already on the advance to pummel the other.

              • It's the game mode - too many points are awarded for advantage and hunt kills. Score quickly spirals in a lop-sided manner and the mercy rule kicks in.

                My last 3 games, I'm on the other side of the fence now. Overwhelming victory and it feels disgusting. The people I've matched against are still getting a feel for the game from what I can see. That isn't balanced. Edit: 1 - 31 and the enemy team got a hunt within less than a minute, I instantly left. Insanity. Edit 2: And then the next game I joined was mercy'd in my favor. There's the meta, boys. If the game looks pretty damn well lost, just leave. Find a game where the enemy team is losing badly and profit. Again, it should not be like this.

                • They shouldn't be common. However it is normal when matchmaking consists of taking 12 names, jumbling them about in a bag and throwing the first six to fall out into 1 team and the rest into another. Sadly, until there is a reasonable matchmaking system Crucible is going to stay like this.

                    • PvP bounties in a game where people like to check kdr for groups is absolute garbage in the first place. You have try hards running around with meta load outs while I’m trying to get kills with side arms and fusion rifles. So fun!!!

                      • It's because of three things: - Iron Banner's Hunt mechanic. - The new mercy rule system. - The game's awful lobby balancing algorithm. The last one is most important IMO. People need to start calling this one out more instead of arguing about SBMM vs CBMM, because Bungie can just use that issue as a scapegoat to avoid fixing the actual problem.
