Playing D2 before sunsetting always gave me a feeling I was investing in my guardians. Now it just feels like I’m only investing in my guardians Quickplay gear. XD

The official reason for sunsetting was power creep, but we all know the real reason was to keep people grinding for new loot. Because even though you own a god roll of something, that gun will be worthless in less than a year. I must say that sunsetting weapons and gear has the opposite effect on me. Instead of grinding more, I play a lot less. Another reason for this fatigue is probably that Bungie keeps lying about the official reason for sunsetting. Just cut the BS about this “power creep” nonsense. Whenever examples were given about power creep, the only things people could come up with were Recluse, Revoker, Not Forgotten, Mountaintop, et cetera and some exotic weapons. Well exotic weapons aren’t getting sunset, so forget about that. The other named weapons were all pinnacle weapons. Nothing about regular legendary weapons (never mind "OP" armor XD).
“No, but people are only looking out for rampage, kill clip, swashbuckler and other damage increasing perks.”

“Well, then nerf those.”

“Nerfing isn’t fun!”

“You rather have them removed from the game than for them to get adjusted?”
So if power creep really was the real reason for sunsetting: Why not only sunset pinnacle weapons? Because I must say, I’m pretty sure Bungie could’ve kept people grinding for years to come by simply introducing interesting new perks, buffing less used perks and adjusting damage increasing perks like Rampage. Maybe even introducing new types of weapons or weapon archetypes. Sunsetting was not necessary EVER. It is only causing people to get burned out by the game. I’m never done grinding for weapons with interesting newer perks like Vorpal, Thresh, Unrelenting, Killing Wind. But I am done grinding when I know those weapons take a very long time to acquire, and by the time you own them, you can only use them for several months. It just isn’t worth the time!!! The result is I will only keep and chase gods rolls I can use in quickplay. For PvE I will just keep general okay rolls and not bother getting god rolls. I just can’t imagine Bungie really wants us to view the game like that! I must say I almost feel the same way about D2 now as how I felt about it in year 1. Back then the game was boring, because there was nothing to chase. Now I just hardly feel like playing because I know Bungie doesn’t respect the time players put in the game. On the bright side: I have more time now to do other things. :)

 • I disagree tbh. How we earned God rolled gear and how light level exists as a gate only is what's always prevented me from engaging with loot in the long term. Having targeted way to not only get specific drops but tweaking the drop itself is what makes me care about loot again despite light level being as garbage as it is.
