I'm sure this comes up from time to time and has been answered, however the searchability of the community forum isn't great, so I apologize if this is "yet another repost" of this topic.
For context, I have destroyed so many items since Destiny 2 Beyond Light launched... hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of items which I had vaulted.
I spend multiple hours a week "managing inventory" so I can keep space in my Vault for that next piece of armor or weapon with good or god rolls that I want to hang onto for a bit.
There is no way with 3 characters to even keep a reasonable amount of armor with a variety of stats without running out of space pretty quickly (with 5 slots for 3 characters and 6 attributes on the armors, even just saving the best one of each attribute for each character in the vault takes up 5x3x6 = 90+ slots).
Add to that the fact that exotic weapons now get acquired from collections at 1050 power, and armors have really awful stats when acquired from collections so I have to hang onto RNG rolls of exotic armors, and the exotic collections have become fairly useless, so I find myself saving exotics in the vault again. It's just untenable and unfun to spend so much time worrying about inventory instead of playing the game.
In life, I don't have a lot of time. I spend money to save time, like paying for someone to cut the lawn to save hours a week to put into Destiny 2 instead ;)
Why can't I pay for more Vault space so I can save the time and stop needing to put hours of my week into Destiny inventory management?
