HDR broken?
I can never find the right balance for the HDR for the game. Why is that?
I can't find a right map to balance it out. I know SDR affects HDR so you need to make the brightness there at 4 or 5 to get the right lighting taken place in HDR but God.
I wish bungie fixes this. I hate the slider. It doesn't have numbers so its hard to tell where I'm at exactly and how much it needs to be tweaked to find a decent lightening. And the symbols Upton of the bars don't help. If you balance to what it says. It'll have crushed inky blacks and white washed whites...
This is the only game I ever had problems with in HDR. If bungie really wanted to balance that part of the HUD then they should just take a simple route like MONSTER HUNTER WORLD. At least you can pick between resolution graphics and frame rate. And the night and day is easier to balance then the system thats on here on bungie

2 RepliesIt's a known issue Bungie have acknowledged it but have said they cannot give a date for a fix. A lot of players have complained it's only really started since BL dropped.

Same issues with me. Destiny 2 HDR makes me physically feel quesy I have to turn hdr off. Every over game is fine.

Lately I’ve been having an issue with HDR not even coming on when the game launches. I have to turn the console HDR off an back on to get it come on in D2.

My guess is Bungie tested it on PC monitors mainly - their daily workbenches after all. For gamers like me playing on a large 55' room set, i can confirm those severe glitches are NOT console related ( PS5 not better than PS4, tested on both last week ), and no setting tweak works at all. Still got lots of: negative blues on blacks, oversaturated reds, pink reflections on white walls, orange reflections on greens, horrendous negative halos around meshes in dark caves, Gambit intro prep, etc,,, So back to non-HDR standard mode for Destiny 2. Besides MonsterHW perhaps, all other HDR enabled games i played recently were quite decent, and i'm even still impressed by the excellent HDR in Uncharted 4 and Horizon ZD ( hey, we're talking of HDR standards dating 3 - 4 years ago and they're light years way better ), and of course the recent Last of Us 2. Either Bungie isn't interested to put the technical effort to support it at least at the level many other AAA studios do, OR their engineers/techs don't or can't take the time to beta test it at large.

8 RepliesI had to turn off the HDR cuz it was so bad. Which sucks. But I won’t use it until they address that madness. My green isn’t supposed to be red 🤷🏼♀️

People usually don't notice brcause who looks at lights and daytime sky and misses a few clouds? Bungo does the opposite, makes the darks too dark and it crushes blacks. The game is already dark so it just makes things worse because everything winds up too dark. Honestly, I turned HDR off because of D2. It's been like this since the game started and turning it off is the only way to get those low light details back. Game developers in general are still figuring out hdr so I give even bungo a slight pass on this one.

I don't know why this is the only studio that can't get HDR right either. Supposedly a fix coming but no timetable as I'm sure that this is last priority to make their game look good. To be somewhat fair, this game needs attention in other areas as well. Be well.

5 RepliesThe HDR is broken on PS4. I get red lighting from anything green and from areas on Nessus, Earth, and Europa. I believe Bungie is aware. You want your black point set directly to middle. I believe its 49 clicks. The slider has been broken for awhile.
