Guardian Stories B1, House of Witches. Part 13: The Kell of Kell's.

Writers Note: Sorry for the long delay, I have been travelling and been busy at home, thanks for your time and patience as always. This is the beginning of the ending arc! Akain moved down the Fallen corridors, mimicking Adam from earlier, pointing the rifle around the corners and spots, where enemies could be hiding, moving slowly and waiting for something to spring out at him. The ship was lit unevenly, at times there were to few lights that he could barely see, others lights had just been welded along the walls haphazardly. This place was roughly put together. Over the radio he could just hear static, sometimes a voice would cut through occasionally, it but nothing he could make out. After a few silent minutes of searching he heard an echo of gunshots. Akain's careful movement through the Colossal walker had been forgotten, he ran towards the shots, which had turned into a full gun fight by the sounds of it within seconds after the first shot. Running at full speed Akain reached to the end of a corridor, the light was so dim he only stopped himself moments before a wall, he skidded and bumped hard off the wall. In the following corridor a open door had seven Hive acolytes taking cover behind it, gunshots were pinging of the wall, there were already a few dead Hive on the floor outside the door, they were trying to fire back at their target. Akain went to one knee and open fire on them, he had no cover, but it didn't matter, by the time they tried to fight back, most of them would be dead. His first burst of fire, he took down two Hive, his second and third he took three more. The two remaining sprung from their cover and raised there weapons, forgetting about the other enemy they were facing. Barely a second passed when one of the acolytes heads exploded and the other didn't know who to fire at. Akain gunned the last one down before it could decide who to shoot, Hive blood splattering everywhere and it's worm escaped the now dead body to wriggle to safety. Eve came into sight, running round the corner, shooting the escaping worm with her hand cannon. She looked at Akain, not in pleasure, but in frustration. What are you doing here, I was going to let this place fall when I got back to the hole! Eve said, with a mix of anger and worry on her voice. Well good thing I found you, you looked like you needed the help. Akain said in annoyance, he was just trying to help her after all. She was running towards him and he began to run with her, Eve's left arm was mangled, she hadn't even healed herself she was desperate just to leave, Akain could say why, as soon as they started running together he could hear an approaching hoard of enemies. What's the plan then, what did you do? Akain asked, trying to speak while running but doing it, he wasn't fit enough to speak and run well. I set explosive charges on four of the cables on the back left and right side of the Walker, four ships can't hold this thing up, they will plummet to the ground and this thing will be destroyed. Eve explained quickly to him, by the time she finished they were back at the hole. Well make that three ships, I destroyed the leading ship on the right, it's kind of how I got here. Akain said to her, the hole higher than he remembered. Eve had her Ghost heal and Akain glided to the top and climbed out, he then lent a hand for Eve to grab onto, when she jumped up and grabbed his hand, Akain nearly fell back in, she was a lot heavier than she looked. Pulling her out of the ship, they struggled there way to the edge, the wind still strong, they crawled towards the curved edge of the Walker. They waited for a second before she shouted jump! Akain didn't jump but Eve pushed him, he slid down the Walker's side then fell, for a few seconds he was in free fall, next second he was transmated inside the ship with her, landing hard on his back. Before Akain even could get to his feet, Eve had already sat herself in the pilot seat, the ship was rocketing away from the Mammoth Walker. Akain got to his feet clumsily, the wind having been knocked out of him from the fall, as soon as he got to his feet however the ship dramatically slowed down, sending him head first into the back of Eve's seat and back to the ground. What are you doing! Akain angrily said as he got his feet again. I took us far enough away from the fight that we could see the Walker fall but not be in the mix of things. Akain looked out of the back window and Eve followed him, Guardian ships were dogfighting the surrounding Skiffs that were protecting the Tombship's that were carry the Mammoth Walker. There were only five Skiffs remaining, Akain took two out himself, It looked like the friendly pilots were making slow progress of the remaining Skiffs. Eve pulled out what Akain guessed was the detonator. When did you have the time to take explosives with you? Akain asked. Eve looked at him and again Akain guessed she was smiling, flicked a switch on the detonator. A second passed before the side of the Mammoth Walker flashed with bright light and exploded, now unsupported by the cables on the left side it swung downwards, the three ships that were still trying to hold it up sank with the Walker as it fell sideways towards the ground. Yes! Akain cried out. Grabbing Eve's shoulder and giving it a squeeze. Eve took of her helmet and was smiling broadly and gave him a hug. Eve let go, lets follow it downwards and see the thing crash into pieces. Eve said going back to the pilots seat. Akain followed her and sat in the co-pilots seat, Eve made the ship dive with speed. Contact Zavalla, tell him what's happened. Eve said still focusing herself on the ship. Akain switch his frequency to the Vanguard operations frequency. Commander Zavala, this is Akain from the Scouting Fireteam, myself and the Hive Specialist Eve destroyed the cables supporting the Mammoth Walker, it is currently plummeting to the ground. His experience of what he had just gone through tonight had changed him, before he would always let Adam report to whoever was in charge of the operation. Tonight had put things in perspective, Guardians were in this together, if he wanted to get a peace between the Fallen and the Last City, he didn't have time to be nervous around Zavala. A brief static could be heard over the radio, before he heard a familiar commanding voice. Good work, I can't say that I am pleased that you disobeyed orders... but without your help, the Mammoth Walker would be closer to the city. So... thank you. I want you to link up with Fireteam Darkfire and Candance, to eliminate the stragglers, I will be there shortly to set up a team to further investigate the situation. Eve had slowed down their dive and now was hovering metres above the ground, the area was snowy was lots of trees without leaf's, the whole area was nearly all flat, he could see a mountains in the distance. Akain could see the Walker break through the clouds the Hive ships still being pulled down with it. Then it was like another explosion happen, jets had burst into life on the side, rotating it round so it would land on it's feet. Other jets burst into life on it's other side and it was slowing down it's fall before landing hard on the ground, setting fire to the ground, melting the snow in a instant, steam surrounding the area. The Hive Tombships came crashing afterwards, exploding on the ground, one ship collided and exploded of the side of the Walker, it barely flinched. A horn blared, the horn that Walkers sound when activated but this one was deep and ten times as loud, even inside Eve's ship he could feel the vibrations through his body. Akain sat there in shock as the Mammoth Walker spurred to life, although it was miles away it started to approach them, the ground shook ever step it took. Commander Zavala, we have a problem. Akain said over the radio, as the remaining Skiffs dropped off hundreds of Fallen and Hive foot soldiers, pikes, normal sized walkers. But from the Mammoth Walker a great Fallen Kell stood forth, flesh rotting away, his body kept together and functioning by Fallen tech and Hive sorcery. Skolas took to the field again, a dead puppet who wielded a two handed sword, dragging it behind him. Commanding the hordes of Fallen and Hive. A Kell defeated by the Hero of the Last City, reborn.
