Constructive Feedback on Mods and other Customisation
Once again Bungie, heading in the right direction in regards to fulfilling the RPG/customisation fantasy within the game. Great iterations to the mod system, loading times got much more bearable on console, and the dynamic weather conditions in the sandbox are great for immersion.
Positives;
- Artefact has charged with light additions, amazing! More of this experimentation is welcome in future seasons
- Ridding of the cute, but sadly more useless economy mods
- I like the removal of element specificity for weapons for the sake of my vault space. I stil appreciate that some specificity was retained for the sake of keeping the player thinking about build crafting. I enjoy limits like these.
Here's the constructive criticism;
- WAY too much congestion in some of the mod slots. Arms are a nightmare currently, for reasons I'll come to later. Class item also suffers from this. Dexterity has no place here for Warlocks with TERRIBLE GRENADE THROW DISTANCE (necessitating fastball), and if this is to persist, then increase the number of slots, please!
- Seasonal Artefact; these are where the issues come from. Almost all higher tier mods belong to the arms or class item. An ungodly amount. It strangles the build-crafting process, especially when trying to utilise charged with light bonuses.
- Mod pathway barriers must be adjusted or made slightly more generous. I don't want to be forced in to picking mods less useful to me to have an extremely limited pick of the bunch midway through the levelling process; this dilemma should only present itself towards the end of the pathway. 1 --> 4 --> 6 instead of 7 perhaps. You have me forced to select a bunch of overload mods at the beginning when in actuality I want to select the grenade overload options later on. Having to select both is extremely redundant.
- Don't be so weapon-specific with the anti-barrier, unstoppable, and overload mods. What happened to grouping scouts and pulses for instance, or hand cannons and sidearms?
- My Warlock looks like he's had a severe allergic reaction and/or aged a half-dozen millennia. Poorly. Please either allow us to re-customise our character appearance when you next 'fix' these face models, or revert the changes. There are a fair amount of complaints about this. It ruins player agency in a fundamental way.
- Fusion Rifles lack relevance in PvE, let alone PvE. Very underwhelming for a special weapon archetype with NO means of precision damage. Give them a crowd control effect, something, anything.
- Trace Rifles have been out since launch AND STILL HAVE NO MOD SUPPORT.
