Destiny 2 is logged having 773 weapons. I played a lot of D1 and am certain that there were far less, but I cannot find the concrete total. There were substantially more rolls to attempt per gun, though, breaking into the thousands.
As someone who has only logged around 500 hours of D2, and all of that being at least a year post-launch, I oftentimes felt overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of viable gear. I spent countless hours simply researching what was worth pursuing and what went straight to dismantle.
This is not defense of sunsetting, but I do think their current direction is more appealing to "kinderguardians" and other New Light players. I think it is a kick in the face to we who have grinded for hours to get the rolls we like on weapons we love.
I loved Forges and the weapons tied to the Black Armory. It is disappointing they have taken away the weapons we love. That is undeniable. But I do think something needs to be done to the loot pool for entry level players. I know many would not say it, but it was too much. Smaller, better selections, more unique appearances and traits, something could be done that isn't taking gear away from people.
Since it is a hot topic that virtually everyone agrees sucks, I wanted to add some thoughts I hadn't seen as I read through the pools of fellow disconents.
