I am going insane. I was trying to play Destiny 2 over xCloud on Xbox Game Pass, and to access my characters who are quite far along on my Steam account that I started it all on when New Light was released, I couldn't enable Cross Save. This is where things get absolutely -blam!-ing ridiculous. It turns out that I cannot complete Cross Save because I had a PSN account linked to my Bungie profile that no longer exists! How wonderful! It turns out that any and all accounts that are linked to your Bungie account MUST [b][i]MUST[/i][/b] be authenticated and [b][i]MUST[/i][/b] be enrolled in Cross Save no matter what. If you don't want that platform to be involved be it because you no longer have access to a console because you sold it or were living with someone who had it, then you better -blam!-ing not leave it there in case you, like me, get hacked and then get your account banned. That's right, Cross Save ALSO demands that you cannot continue if you can't authenticate a nonexistent account that you haven't touched in ages and didn't even remember that you had linked and does not care that you didn't have the opportunity to remove it before an unpredictable situation like this happens. On top of all of that, the workaround Bungie offers says unlink everything from your profile and make a new one. But there's just one problem! To make matters [b][i]EVEN WORSE[/i][/b] - I can't unlink Steam! Because it was the platform I started on AND is PC based, you CAN'T remove it. So, my only choice afforded by Bungie - who does not have a customer support system of any kind it seems - is to: Make a new profile and unlink everything Don't start on PC If you have an account that is banned or deleted for any reason beyond your control, -blam!- you If you have Steam, DOUBLE -blam!- you Buy the game again and start all over again! Fun! So, what exactly can you do for me about this? I may sound like a boomer or something, and while I literally work for customer support for Apple and receive the kind of people who hate this shit, the fact that there is NOTHING for you to handle any kind of issues such as this is [i] infuriating.[/i] I cannot help but be absolutely -blam!-ing irate about this. In the event of something uncontrollable or unpredictable happens you definitely should at the bare minimum have SOME sort of contingency on the backend at least PARTIALLY mitigate this. It's just not acceptable.
