RNG is a pain in the ass. However it shouldn't be removed. There needs to be other ways to obtain the loot we want than just relying on Rngesus to bless us. Exotics are fine the way they are imo. But grinding for that random roll could be tedious. That's why I came up with a weapon customization idea that might help. In D1 bungie made the gunsmith more useful by year 2. We had test weapons that boosted our reputation level which gave us a couple legendary weapons as well as a couple exotics. Unfortunately after rank 6 there was no reason to grind reputation as far as I know. So the test weapons became useless after rank 6 unless you wanted to challenge the meta. This is where I think the game could have used some improvement. I think the gunsmith should be able to replicate weapons we find. We should be able to unlock the rolls we want on the weapon by either grinding a lot of reputation levels or just by having a progression system for each individual weapon. Let's say I played gambit and got a spare rations with a terrible roll. I take it to the gunsmith. He breaks the weapon down which allows him to rebuild it. But at first he can only build the weapon with no perks and one choice of a crappy scope. After he rebuilds it you take that weapon and just play with it. As you use it in various activities you level the weapon up which unlocks more perks, scopes, masterworks etc. that you can customize on that weapon. Of course the better perks unlock towards the max level. And you can only use perk combinations that a weapon can drop with. For example if a weapon can't have a rampage and kill clip combination because both perks only drop in the third slot then you can't have them together on that weapon. If you accidentally dismantle that weapon the game saves your progress with that weapon. You can pull it from banshee again with the perks you unlocked. I think this would be a good idea for many reasons. 1) It will help clear up vault space. Instead of having many different variants of the same gun you can just have one that you can customize as you see fit. The demand for more vault space wouldn't be a big issue. 2) It will encourage people to use different weapons. There will always be a meta especially in competitive and trials. But it could bring variety since you got to use weapons in order to level them up. 3) It will allow us to put the rolls we want but not without grinding. The grind will be long but not tedious. The rolls you want will be guaranteed but not without powering the weapon up. Each weapon will have it's own journey.

It would be nice, given sunsetting and FOMO bullshit now, if the overall odds for rolls were reduced by about half. (1/1000 becomes 1/500 etc.) OR we get some way to mitigate RNG like (a small amount of) assignable stat points on armor or rerolling (even if only the masterwork) on weapons. Having two choices in the last column is a nice start.

RNG is essential to this game. Without it, it would be D2 Y1 all over again and it was boring as Sunday Mass. Now, Bungie has made random roll weapons and armor quicker to get with the systems they made like the Menagerie Chalice, Lectern of Enchantment, The Sundial, Rasputin weapon bounties, and now with the Prismatic Recaster.

Hard disagree I've been trying to get rapid hit kill clip spare since it came out. I haven't gotten it still. Heck I've only gotten one with rapid hit before. (I've grinded A LOT) It gives the game chase While not everything should be rng, I think the amount there is, is good

Rng leveling is bad like what pieces of gear drop having a way to narrow the pool to 2 pieces of gear is great which is why the menagerie and the umbral recaster are 2 of the best ways to get gear and we need more of it.

Also, this should not be an issue in the game.[/quote] Exotic, pinnacles , rituals and deterministic roles through quests like felwinters more than makes up the shortfall .as it currently stands you can enter any activity with a super competitive loadout with fixed deterministic roles . This will change with sunsetting but I'm sure bungie will still spoon feed us some of these type weapons ie adored or beloved 2.0 , felwinters 2 or 3 seasons yet and exotics are sunset proof for the time being .

The thing is that if you play the whole game then sometimes you get it and sometimes your buddy gets it. The alternative is what? Everyone gets it on first try. Please walk your argument by a few people and get feedback before posting. It’s a waste of time to post the obvious over and over.
