Extremely stupid lore question

Did savathun ever consider taking her worm, or would that not work out well? This might be awnsered in the lore but I wouldn't know where to look. Thx.

  • Oryx did a thing with a Taken Worm. There was a scannable on the dreadnaught but it never went into full detail except there was a taken worm in a container.

  • Just so you are aware of the circumstances regarding "taking": Auryx, the King of the Hive, sought to gain the power to feed his worm. This resulted in him traveling to the Ascendant realm in search of Akka. Akka and Auryx spoke of the power of the Deep, and since their power was gifted, and not taken, it was not true to the Deep. Auryx attacked Akka and slew him, then communed with the Deep himself. When he was finished he crafted the Tablets of Ruin, gaining the power to Take and becoming Oryx, the Taken King. Though dead, Akka was not gone, and Oryx was forced to battle his god's "swarming corpse" while escaping his sisters' treachery years later. Oryx used part of Akka's body to craft his Dreadnaught and conceal his ascendant plane from Xivu Arath, the Hive god of War. So yes, the question does remain can a worm be taken. My thought process on it? They can. They thought worm gods couldn't be killed lest their smaller spawn dies with them. That theory was false as Auryx would have died instantly. The condition is simply, "keep your worm fed lest it eats you from the inside." Therefore, there is the reason for an agent not just Savathun to Take once they have the power of the tablets of ruin. The tablets are what is description wise given for the Taking power.

  • I assume that the worms would be immune to being taken or something like that since they helped oryx get the ability to take

  • I would have to assume that the worms get taken with the hive whenever they are. Perhaps after symbiosis they are truly one in the same and cannot be separated by taking or otherwise.

There haven’t been any attempts to Take a worm in the lore to my knowledge. Not even clear if that would be possible, considering the Worm Gods are the beings (outside of the Pyramids) most directly tied to the Darkness, and there isn’t much detail on how normie worms work besides consuming the host if they aren’t fed. Let alone how the crazy old ones of Ascendant Hive like Savathun, Oryx, and Xivu may be different from others after being fed so much tribute.

    • What would be the point? It gives her power as long as it’s fed.

      • Well the Worms themselves don’t get any special mention. It’s also symbiotic, so whatever is done to the Worm affects her. It’s like an organ at this point. You need it to function. They haven’t been shown to exhibit any sentience or independence. What we do know is that Hive have been Taken with only their will being affected. So based on what we do know and the lack of mention otherwise, Taking her Worm won’t do her any good.

      • worms are in a symbiotic relationship with the hive, each one has its own worm. I would think you take the whole package instead of just the worm itself.
