Snipers are living on recruit mode across the board in PVP

List of Advantages - Very high AA (aim assist), (AA + Range influences bullet magnetism regardless of controller or MnK) - Low Zoom with no drawback - No sway when moving (easy to side step in and out of cover) - Infinite hard scope (these are the ones that hate 3rd peaking) - Reliable handling - Hit Scan (no need to lead a shot) - Extremely high body-shot damage (looking at you high impact and adapative) - Side effect advantage: Primary weapons have such a slow TTK, making snipers even more dominate than they should be. [b]- The only weapon besides linear Fusion Rifle that can benefit from being flinched.[/b] (big issue in 3v3 modes Con [spoiler]3rd Peaking and another sniper user[/spoiler] What else did I miss?

  • Take out Revoker. Watch sniping go down significantly. Here’s a thought. Use a scout. Lack of flinch is an issue but your grievances all seem pretty dumb to me.

    • You missed the fact that they also require no different skillset compared to a primary weapon. Special weapons should be special to use and provide a unique experience that should be different than primaries, a scout rifle that one shots is not very special to me.

          If they nerf snipers they should slow the draw time down on shotguns and take QuickDraw off them. Only fair! Also make shotguns 1 shot from the waist up.

          • Doesn't matter. With how aim assist is an upgradable stat, and how bullet magnetism remains strong on top of P2P connections...this game with always remain unbalanced. This is especially true on console. Special weapons paired with those statistics and perks that literally make them better, means that there will always be too many ways to mimic "skill" in the crucible. There are just too many things to balance. The sandbox is littered with so much garbage that skill becomes harder and harder to see amongst a sea of bullshit. I have a 1.16KD on PS4. According to various PVP trackers, that puts me in the top 16%. Imagine a pvp experience so bad that literally anybody above a 0.7 is considered an above average player.

          • Yea snipers are a joke. Hopefully beloved and revoker are the last broken ones and they have more skillful ones moving forward with sunsetting and such. Beloved and revoker just ruin trials right now

          • ammo economy idea, you dont get special ammo until after getting a kill with your primary . One kill = one shot. Die it stays with you. It wouldn't be like the special ammo nerf at the end of D1, but just make more of a influence on primary gun fights.

              • Snipers having to much aim assist is a symptom of destiny having to much aim assist. And huge hit boxes its not a competitive game. They tried with d2 vanillas launch sunk like a rock.

              • Nothing. I think that is why low-zoom scopes are going to get hit in the next sandbox patch. They—and the unrealistically nimble handling—of snipers in this game has basically turned them into OHK battle rifles. Ones where Bungie has to turn flinch up to 11 in order to enforce any sort of disadvantage to their use. Expect Bungie either slow the handling and/or narrow the field of view of scope to rein in that kind of hyper-aggressive and unrealistic sniper play.

              • What gun is hard to use in destiny? You got shotguns, fusions, arbalest, etc... This games meant to be accessible and not too difficult to master the weapons within.

              • They already addressed they are changing the way zoom works on existing and future snipers. Low zoom is going away. I think that alone will shake up the meta pretty heavily. Low zoom is what allows people to run and gun. Once that’s gone, and people have to stand in the back of the map and hold lanes to be effective, which is boring to most, sniper play will go way down. I think that means they’ll probably have to address Arbalest soon after too though because that’s what sniper players will gravitate towards next.

                  Sniper Rifles are easy mode in 90% of FPS games but people want to live in the mentality that they're skillful, MLG weapons because "muh montage" "muh quickscope." Kill them off in PvP and the game would improve 100%.

                    I think snipers should have the breathing sway added at least so you can't train your camera on the neck line with infinite zoom and wait for a peeker head shot as easily. It would add some more realism to it and make it a little harder to get the easier shot. Bungie could also consider adding a game mode where you had certain nodes where special ammo spawns and the players don't start with 2 special. This would mean each team could only get 2 special ammo at the start and have to loot more special ammo from where it spawns or have to loot from bodies. I'm not arguing about other special weapons. Mountain top and shotguns are another topic entirely. All games have balance issues but I think this past week in Trials should really highlight the issues with sniper meta.

                    • Dude I’m trying to relearn sniping after a couple months off and it’s not easy mode. Commit sometime to sniping and you will see it is very high skill to run in gun (not so much laning).

                    • Just remove starting special ammo. People would -blam!- but those snipers and shotguns are also the ones who complain about mountain top. Want a fix to mountain top in pvp? Remove starting special ammo fixed with no weapons recieving a nerf.

                      • 2nd year in a row that i say that this game has recruit mode mechanics like the specific flinch that moves your reticle over the head with ANY weapon, the bullet magnetism (this is an easy mode mechanic for every player, rewarding them for aiming close to the target and NOT on the target, ridiculous), a bad netcode and a pathetic 2007 p2p environment that everyone here forgets about how bad it is for a multiplayer game outside of a lan party. And let's not forget that the devs and cm's of bungie are always listening or passing feedback, yeah!. You guys on this forum refuses to let this game die/fix when you only have 1 job that is not to buy anything from bungo until they fix all this things, and bungo thinks that the game is fairly well received because of that.

                      • They just need a tad more flinch with no recoil targeting to the head, and sway while aimed down sights. Also shooting should probably descope you for a second. Idek, fixing snipers in this game will probably never happen
