SoH broke me. Forced PVP? No ornaments from last years SoH armor? I am so tired of not being able to play this game the way I want with the gear and weapons I want, and this was the straw that broke me. I just want to be able to equip the gear I like, the weapon I want, and play without being instantly nerfed as a result. Doing dailies is painful, as I have to use weapons and sub classes I dont like. Farming upgrade mats is painful as I now know you will nerf my gear at a whim later on and waste my time invested in master working them. Same with weapons. Whats the point of playing a game when I have to play YOUR way and not mine? Why should I keep paying you to tell me to stop having fun and use the gear and weapons you want?
I logged in yesterday, managed to grind out the blue gear requirements, and.... I just cant anymore. Its not fun. It feels like a second job. A responsibility or an obligation. Not something fun to do with friends or clanmates. Nobody I talked to is happy with this game, they just endure it, like an achy back or sliver in their finger, hoping it gets better. I am done hoping man. I'm just done.
I dont expect a warm welcome here, I just hope that some dev reads this, sees the real world consequence of poor game design and passes it along to somebody in charge. I feel like the abused wife of a relationship. Bungie keeps doing things that make me not like their game while saying how much they 'listen' the whole time. How much they 'hear' me and want me to be happy and know they care. Its clear you dont and never will. It should not be this hard to play a looter shooter. I quit WOW when it stopped being fun. I quit Overwatch when it stopped being fun. Now I quit Destiny when it stopped being fun.
This guardians eyes are down, permanently.

Idk how we lasted as long as we did. It's trash, man. Sad, but true.
-
I felt the same then gave them benefit of doubt and preordered collectors version. Problem is NONE of my friends play it anymore. Some of them were very very good PVP players who had Unbroken. They just got bored to death.
-
Me too my friend I cancelled mine shortly after they decided to postpone beyond light. I am not anticipating in the Solstices of suckers. Bungie is taking one of the best games and ruined it
-
Think this’ll be the first major expansion I don’t buy since D1 launched. So sad to see SO much wasted potential. The direction they’re taking the franchise has got to course correct or it’s a wrap.
-
First destiny expansion I haven’t preordered, and honestly the urge to do so is non existent
-
Same got refunded from steam. I done This community are cancerous

Edited by Tk: 8/13/2020 7:41:43 AMFirst time i haven't pre ordered a destiny dlc. Wont be missing out on anything. Glad to see people are finally drawing the line.

I can understand you. Yesterday I started leveling blue gear, and after 3 of 5 strikes, I just realized that it was a must, grinding without enjoying it. 5 adventures? Everybody does the shortest and quickest. Nobody enjoy it. I can remember in D1, as casual player you were able to grind all items in the game, complete all activities, and then play something else or play just for fun, without goal. I miss that in D2. I am a completionist like so much players (I want the seal), but for casual player it’s really difficult, and I can understand the “job” feeling. After grinding for last item at 1060 not dropping (after what?!...maybe 30 pinnacles?, always the same activities), grinding iron banner, now grinding solstice of heroes.... I don’t complain, I love D2 and will still be playing, but the grind is real and no more fun. So today night I will drink a beer outside 👍🏻

This game is trash, Bungie is trash

Edited by scomatth: 8/12/2020 7:28:09 PMAre you me? Welcome to Club Refund. Sunsetting was the big one for me, but Solstice definitely pushed the needle over the edge. I finished the blue set on my Hunter, took one look at the purple requirements and said lol no. Dismantled all of the Solstice armor, abandoned the quests, turned off the game. I'm not quitting outright, but I am gonna play on my terms, which means a dungeon a week and maybe a few odds and ends with my one friend who blindly defends and loves Bungie and sees no fault in anything they do while proceeding to complain that he's only ever finished Last Wish because I dragged him into it. He's an odd one. While he's toiling away all month on his armor requirements so he can spend $45 on glows, I'm gonna be enjoying other games like FFXIV's new story patch, Remnant's upcoming DLC and Sekiro. Games that respect my time.

I been playing since the alpha and I finally threw in the towel. It’s just too much.

You can actually get a refund? I am so pleased I never pre-ordered Beyond Light. You only have to compare year 2 content to year 3 content to realise the sheer drop in quality AND quantity (and that was before the pandemic affected their business). So, that would make this year's projections very daunting indeed. When you try to look beyond the hyped videos about next season, you don't get very much detail at all. I for one would like to know, up front, what content I would be paying for and in what season. Otherwise we are all giving Bungie a blank cheque, allowing them to arbitrarily introduce as little content as they see fit. I am not falling into the same trap as year 3 ever again!

TY Steam for easy refund - 20 minutes later refunded for Beyond Light Deluxe purchased back in June You inspired me as well. I've bought every single expansion since launch. While I didn't mind vanilla PVP this last IB reminded me how unenjoyable it is to be killed by weapons I Can Not obtain. Weapons like Gnawing Hunger that were once a massive grind but obtainable for solos to get are now common garbage drop items while Summoner are walled behind sweaty esports players. I also grinded the last Solstice only to find the glowing armor WAS NOT usable with 2.0 armor, not even as cosmetic skin. And that was a long long long grind. Finding groups to do older quests also proves impossible because either people play the newest or they don't play at all. I tried to get a Nightfall group for the Truth Rocket Launcher and sat there for half a day in group finder with no bites. Join a clan then idiot?! I've been in many many clans over the years and they are fleeting at best dissolving in weeks. Or you can be in one of those 1-30 multi-clans where you are the only person in your in-game clan and they all communicate on discord. Either way unless you are pretty high rank people will fully ignore any requests to form groups, it's basically what the leaders need for their collections. While a collection of castrated perk weapons seems appealing pvp has proven only a tiny handful are worth even having. Thank you for posting. You woke me out of a mindless stupor of grinding for things that aren't worth grinding for. The choice weapons are walled behind hard dungeon raids or leet pvp. I have no issue with that but when we are forced to pvp and those are the particular weapons we can't outgun it's a huge issue.

I am in such agreement with you. I’m not preordering Beyond Light. This is the 1st time since 2014 that I’ve decided to not preorder. I am so tired of the grind for stuff that restricts me. I hate the armor mod system. I hate that I must have three different sets of armor per character. I hate that I have to reacquire stuff so it can go above 1060. The game has turned into a job I hate going to. The grind makes me seriously ill in my stomach. It is so anti-fun. Then when I hear the SoH event launches with problems again just continues to disappoint me and where this game has headed. I’ve lost all my friends who I used to play everyday with. I feel this game has finally broke me.

It is clear that feedback on the forums will only go so far for a company that places all their stock in influencers, be they streamers or journalists or whatever. The common fan doesn’t seem to matter anymore. So I’ll continue to chip in my thoughts on the occasional thread, even though my desire to visit these forums grows fainter with each month I haven’t played the game. Which is my long way of saying the “buycott” is only real leverage I can expect to have with Bungie at this point. For the first time in 23 years I’m not interested in spending my money on them.
-
Good for you! I hope more players follow. This season is the first season I did not play iron banner, trials, or SoH. I play with my son every so often to help level as he wanted to play trials. He has finally reached his end and we have not played since last week. My family and I will not purchase the upcoming release or seasons of the current seasonal model does not change. This is not Destiny and this sure as hell is not Bungie. Such a shame to see a once great company ruined.
-
Low key I feel like abandon this shit and move to Avengers, had so much fun in the beta last weekend gonna try it this weekend as well.
-
I guess you can say we're all bed bath & beyond done with Destiny right now.
-
See you in November.

WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL PREORDERING!!

Edited by RockNotABoulder: 8/12/2020 6:09:08 PMhttps://wastedondestiny.com/3_4611686018468023160 And that fellas. Is what too much time on one video game without a break does to you. "I quit WOW when it stopped being fun. I quit Overwatch when it stopped being fun. Now I quit Destiny when it stopped being fun." That's the correct choice. Although you made that choice far too late. Seriously guys. If a game your playing is becoming boring or frustrating and that goes on for more than 5ish hours you need to take a break. Games are for fun. Not collecting a ton of loot. Not to check off a box. They're for fun. Please stop doing this to yourself. There are so many other fun and interesting games that exist. Take a break and play an indie game. Or go play some other shooter. It doesn't matter. Just stop playing the same game for 1000+ hours without playing anything else.
-
I can honestly say that permanently quitting D2 was the best decision I’ve made for myself in years. I come back here once a month or so just to see how much worse it has gotten. The next step is to quit doing that and forget that Bungie ever existed. I can’t really think of a business that cares less about their customers...except maybe the tow truck business. These people simply don’t give a flying F about people in general.

Edited by Snez: 8/13/2020 9:48:11 AMThe game design isn't poor, it's just the recycling that's the problem; the game is a massive place with lots to do just little to no motivation to do it, they take events like this and as there is little to no comment on the event the previous year they continue with the exact same format and style that they believe we like. The game has potential seems to touch it here and there but never truly fulfils it; they are so many issues in the game and they just seem to be brushed over: Sandbox separation; loot incentives; difficulty; meta balancing; exotics not feeling exotic; abuse > skill. I would say the classic "wait for next season, it might be better" - but never seems to hit the spot. It's sad that the game could be so much more, and is a shame that for the most part we are given the same talk each year of a better environment with better incentive and loot. Starting to get tired as well of all the constant mistakes and let downs, hopefully you find a game that can satisfy.

I'm right there with you this game is to much like work with the endless pointless grinding, it's to much like work and not fun any more, they said play your way we respect your time, use the gear you want and play your way. Then they sunset all the gear so all the grinding you put into getting pinical weapons and armor is all wasted I know they want people to play but make it fun and more people would stick around

I’m out. I actually just follow the forums for entertainment value! I’m so over Destiny now that I cringe thinking about logging in for the weekly homework. I loved the raids! They were my motivation to play and get gear. The last raid we got was Garden and it was great but one Raid per year is insulting. The raid before that was last wish and it was also great! The “wanna be raids” like crown, scourge, eater, are all super easy, that they more like 6-man dungeons and I don’t particularly enjoy these “raids”. Leviathan is old but was fun in its moment. Spite of stars is a great raid many don’t have the brains to finish. The story was always so convoluted and enigmatic that unless you have a PhD on research good luck deciphering the meaning of all the “lore” mumbo-jumbo. PvP is just sooo cheesy and cheap with the supers and crazy exotics! Crucible can never be a serious skill challenge cause somebody always got that Titan smash or some other insane ability! So much skill! 😒 Gambit is trash and a joke! And the Nightmare hunts??? Old boring recycled bland fights. I can go on and on just on all the disappointments and lies and broken promises but it’s easier to walk away and just uninstall and get a new game... Shooting the guns in Destiny felt great, but that’s no longer enough for me. It’s not even appetizing. I’m walking away from the game indefinitely ...

Forced PVE?? Disgusting.
