I am just wondering if anyone else is leaving this IB week feeling like you were just getting pummeled. Watching match after match go down in flames; and start hoping for mercy losses. With no comparative matchmaking and still 1030 it felt like a meat grinder. Not really complaining, just wondering if anyone feels the same way.

I play IB solo 90% of the time. Average player, not fantastic, so I play for fun. This IB was not fun. Singles against stacked teams. Mercy rule every match. Lucky to get 3-5 kills before match end. I miss close matches where you walk away happy win or lose and make new friends. I played only a fraction of the matches I usually play this time around. Too boring and frustrating with the mercy rule ending obvious in the first few minutes of play.

Mm felt pretty broke this banner. I mostly played solo and had a 5.0+ kd for the entire thing which was probably about 80 matches in all.
-
Overall it wasnt fun. The least amount of fun I've had in IB.

Eh, look, it's CBMM and I consider that to be casual que. Aka, don't take it seriously. I went in to get my bounties done and I was out. Did I usually score 25 or so defeats, a few games peaking into the high 30s? Sure. Am I good at the game? That's objective, but sure, yeah I'm good. But do I play like a casual with stupid loadouts? Yes. I miss SBMM, I miss the close, race to the finish games. I miss opponents that actually put up a fight. Instead, I spent a good part of this Iron Banner running circles around enemies and getting a WROOM with a sidearm. I got quad feeds with Sweet Bussiness, and even managed to get some people on my team and the other team to try it out, simply because they saw it was working for me. But I never went in with the intent to stomp. Am I going to intentionally throw a match? Hell no. I could have a rando on my team that only needs one more match won before they can leave. I will make that happen. Will it come at the expense of someone on the other team in the same boat? Sure, but it's one or the other. Nothing is without a price. And at the end of the day, I had fun. Say what you want. Sometime in season 5 or 6 or around there I was apparantly top 500 in iron banner. Think of that as you will.

Maybe you got pummeled, I had a really good time playing iron banner. I played the objective, I popped off all weekend with 35+ kills a game. If I won, cool and if not, who cares? I still got tokens and free enhanced mods just for playing the game. I made some really fun pvp builds with all my classes and I had a blast, you ever used 7 supers in one match? I never felt more satisfied. Were there some sweaty matches where I got my ass handed? Yeah but thats the beauty of playing a video game, I steamrolled too. I faced a ton of players with different skill levels and loved it, what better way to enjoy the game than just getting into a mode and get rewarded pinnacle stuff wether you win or lose?

My friends and I understand your pain. Please read my post about it. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/256598306?sort=0&page=0

Next time I'd recommend getting what you want from it day 1 or 2, only the sweats keep playing for god rolls. I was also sub 1030 but I think won more games and had plus 2 efficiency most games so seemed alright.

Unfortunately, I was 6 stacking the whole week so it was pretty easy on my end. Mercy rule every game it felt like. Wasn’t fun at all

The removal of skill based matchmaking isn't for regular players, it's for content creators in the top 10% who got tired of laggy games.

Individually I was doing quite well all week at 1045 base light (I dropped my light for the kills bounty) and solo. Most of the time my team lost simply because they were under performing (not holding/capping flags or going very negative). I'd recommend getting to at least 1050 base light for the next IB if you are looking for a more enjoyable experience.

Can they -blam!-ing fix the -blam!- bug where you get absolutely no reputation or rewards at random after a match PLEASE?????????????????
-
On the whole I had fun as usual, but way too many mercies either on 1 side or the other. It was more annoying, and time consuming, to wait for matchmaking rather than to play, some matches were over after 3 mins, and some matchmakings took over 10 mins. Not the best way of balancing things imo.
-
Yup. It was terrible. I did manage to get two characters through the bounties and some pinnacle gear, but it sucked. I left a bunch of games that were so one sided it was a joke. Realty un-fun. Worst IB ever.
-
Yep it was definitely the worst IB I've ever played... Easily 80% of games ended with a mercy... Not fun or competitive... I look forward to IB every month, but im not looking forward to the next one and i think I'll give it a miss unless the matchmaking/balancing is improved...

I won more than I lost (I think?) and my stats are up but only about 1 out of every 5 games was actually enjoyable. Endless mercies, dragging out the bounties forever. By my 3rd character I would have paid Eververse just to GTFO of the dumpster fire, but pinnacles are pinnacles and obviously all our god dang guns have to be re-earned...so we all just suck it up and endure it.

Edited by BaelTheHunter: 7/8/2020 12:18:13 AMIB was, lets call it sloppy. Going in as a mediocre solo player I didn't expect too much, but here is a basic run down. It didn't seem like the IB Bounties were always progressing. Every match was unevenly matched. This resulted in many Mercies both for and against my team. Had a match start with 10 players, 6 versus 4. But the one that stood out the most was a match of 2 solos and 2 doubles against a full stack. The other team swept through in their Trials armor and then hovered near the spawning areas. After that, every time I respawned my shield was gone before I could shoot or even move. On a side note, I threw over 1000 IB Tokens at Lord Saladtoss and still didn't get the body armor to complete the set for my Warlock.
