I'm seeing some red flags. When Forsaken was revealed 2 years ago, it wasted no time revealing a new Mode which was Gambit, not 1 but 2 locations, what we could expect from the Raid, the new weapon models and armor, the new supers AND BOWS. Frickin' bows. This was all on June 5 of 2018.
It's now July 6th and we know little to nothing about Beyond Lights content offering. We have very little gameplay, a potentially misleading look at the new subclasses, no examples about how "highly customizable" luke says they will be. We know nothing about the Raid or new location exploration, all weapons and armor shown in the Beyond light trailer were from previous seasons, and the biggest kicker?
We don't get a new Enemy race. Just yet another reskin of Fallen. I don't like how Bungie is manipulating the events of the games narrative so they align in a way that lets them reskin enemies. Taken. Siva. Frozen Hive, Scorn, Nightmares, and now Dark Fallen because apparently the Scorn weren't already that and we need another iteration.
I'm thinking about a Siva fallen, a Taken Fallen, A Scorn, and now Dark Fallen all in one room and I'm just laughing and half crying at the same time.
I really want Beyond Light to be amazing but Bungies behavior has been concerning (did you see how Luke and Mark were sounding?! Their tone and body language?!) and the narrative is losing momentum.
Still no Vidoc. I am concerned.
Edit: Not really hurt about there not being a new race, I know it wouldn't make sense because the Pyramids are sentient. There is no Traveler race so there is no Pyramid race.
Edit 2: Someone mentioned that Covid-19 has most likely impacted Bungies ability to get everyone together to do a vidoc, which while not Bungies fault, is still very concerning. Even Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed to Novemeber...

Everybody always whining about no new enemy race. We got scorn in D2 as a new race. Which everybody says is reskinned fallen...but they are not . You know what halo added as new enemies in 3 games? Only brutes. You know what CoD added as enemies in a million games...nothing...still humans. Same with battlefield. Star wars games all still have no new enemies. And yet those are all doing fine. There are only so many races in the destiny lore..
-
Lets see what tomorrow brings. Then ill get back on this thread to talk to you about it. Cuz atm I cant agree with you more.
-
I honestly don’t understand why people keep expecting new races... Other then the Cabal bringing in their enslaved races to our solar system there’s not a lot that can be done lore wise anyway.
-
What about dark siva fallen? FROZEN dark siva fallen? TAKEN FROZEN dark siva fallen!
-
Dont be concerned. Dont pre order. Play free.
-
Remember, covid has had a massive impact on how gaming companies are working. Also no events like e3 etc. So they have to announce differently.
-
There are putting less and less effort into the game. They just want to phone it in and hope people will keep throwing money at their screens. Showing what they have would obviously (apparently) be more disappointing than NOT showing it, which is why they aren't.
-
Do we know if the fallen we are fighting in Beyond Light are Eramis' troops? because I'd be pumped for that
-
I miss Activision 😥
-
You tubers will praise it because they will make more money and everyone will follow
-
Still no Vidoc. I am concerned.
That comes out like 5-7 days prior to the new DLC drop.
-
There really needs to be a new enemy race. This is getting pathetic.
-
Do NOT pre order...

Also, our marketing department has been interviewing and recording folks on GoToMeeting to post on Facebook and LinkedIn constantly as part of a standard campaign. There are so many viable ways to do this too. Bottom line, Bungie has all the means and know-how to get anyone and everyone on a vidoc. Don't be fooled.

Next expansion looks very lackluster and sparse on content, it's a wait and see till after release for me.
-
I'm not concerned. I have no interest in it.
-
I'm not...
Because I quit
-
I personally think Bungie do a pretty good job of building hype around expansions. I don't think last season was done very well, and this season has reasons - mainly covid - for the build up to be less. There's a lot of time until 22nd September, so I'm sure the info will start flowing soon.
Edit: Not really hurt about there not being a new race, I know it wouldn't make sense because the Pyramids are sentient. There is no Traveler race so there is no Pyramid race.
I know this isn't a lore discussion but I still think that there is a 5th race in the Pyramids. Mainly because: 1. They have interiors with doors, hallways and staircases the same size as those of humans. 2. There were those darkness-like creatures that the Drifter encountered on that ice planet. 3. Cayde's journal has a sketch of a shadowy/wispy creature. Also he felt "tendrils"? or something covering him during the collapse. 4. There was also the creature that broke into Niobe Labs that kinda sounded like metallic screeching. 5. Early concept art of a wispy 5th race and the Pyramids. 6. They use the pronoun "We" a lot, implying multiple individuals (although it could be referring to the Pyramids collectively, or it could be the Winnower using the royal 'We'). 7.
I can't remember exactly who says it but I think it's Sloane. In the evacuation quest, she says she wants to stay on Titan and face whatever comes out of the Pyramid, meaning it must be inhabited.
So we may not see them until Lightfall but I do still think that there is another alien race in the Pyramids.

Beyond the reskins 😁

Edited by Grim: 7/7/2020 2:34:46 AMForsaken kind of pulled a Game of thrones move killing off a main character to get people interested again in a dying game and they put bows and extra supers and new locations in as well as seasons to just overhaul it and shadowkeep brought the season pass in but not much else beyond light is just throwing out all of the clutter and getting ready for a next gen upgrade so I don't think we will see much in the way of new weapons or armor or weapon types till year 5 when they have the game the way they want it to be for next gen
-
I'm glad tbh. It's more mysterious 🙂
-
I still think they are doing that little like Ohhhhh mysterious ohhhhhhhh thing But they did say they were going to show the supers more and talk about them during this summer When? We don’t know but they will probably give us information every now and then and who know maybe even today they will give us info because it is BUNGIE DAY
-
You make some great points here. I feel like forsaken was kind of a golden age for this game and they will be hard pressed to achieve that again. Everything is so damned repetetive now. Just picked the game back up and though i love its like, yep, nothing new here. I cant bear another reskin or rehash of old gear. Like, do something new ffs.

lord Shaxx is Tigerman - old
I prefer knowing less about it. The more you know about something makes the wait feel longer. You got something wrong
There is a pyramid/tetrahedron race. They’re likely called the veil. Early concept art shows then with smokey black bodies. We probably won’t get any focus on them until light fall, but we could see them teased.
-
We really didn’t know too much about forsaken either. All we know is that Europa is like the biggest destination yet, and that the file size is twice as big as forsaken.
