I've always played Iron Banner, since D1, This time, for the first time ever, I probably won't.

I have been playing this game since D1, mainly Crucible Quickplay. Iron Banner has always been one of my favorites. However, lately it has become less and less fun to play. So much so that this time, for the first time ever, I'll probably pass. These are the three main reasons why I think it's no longer fun, nor worth playing: 1) The boring/annoying quest that one has to go through in order to be able to start turning in Tokens to Lord Saladin. Especially because it forces me to use weapons other than the ones I want to use. I don't like to be forced to play the game the way Bungie wants me to, instead of playing it the way I enjoy to. 2) CBMM turned Crucible into a nightmare (at least for me). No point in playing a game that is no longer fun. 3) Sunsetting. No point in grinding thousands of tokens just to get 99% useless old items that get trashed right away. And the few that are useful come with a light cap so that you have to regrind the same old stuff over and over again in an endless hamster wheel loop. That is no fun either. Now, I know that different people might like or dislike different things, and therefore there will be some who might agree or disagree with these reasons. However, this is how I personally feel and that makes me sad, cause I used to LOVE this game quite a lot. I still do, to some extent, but I no longer feel very motivated right now....

You’re not alone. I’m a PvE player but have always played Iron Banner because the loot has always been cool and plentiful but they’ve gone away from this for quite some time now and the whole ordeal has felt like a damn chore rather than something I’m persuaded to jump into and, sometimes, even have a good time with. The quest sucks, it’s unnecessary, and I’ll never understand the desire to force others into play styles that they don’t find enjoyable. People have this delusion that the only reason people don’t use X weapons is because “they’ve never tried them.” People DO try other things but tend to ultimately stick to what feels right and works for them. Forcing people to play in a specific way is the opposite of *fun*, something Bungie seems to be on a quest to abolish completely. Sunsetting has completely killed any and all of my desire to jump into activities I would normally not enjoy (Gambit & Crucible). What’s the point of going through this chore? All gear is quite costly to masterwork and will be rendered irrelevant in the near future so why should I waste my time chasing after this loot? I’ll just stick to a set of armor that’ll last me a year and upgrade every year (assuming I make it that far). Sunsetting has knocked the wind out of my sails and the ONLY reason I’m somewhat enjoying the game at the moment is because this season is new and this moronic change has not in fact happened yet. The future of this game looks dark for people like me. Our weapons and abilities are constantly getting nerfed, our time is being disrespected at an increasing rate, and activities are more and more designed in a way to maximize grind and minimize fun. I’ll never understand why game developers insist on shooting themselves on the foot by alienating their most loyal fan base and catering to people who’ll drop this game like a bad habit the second something even remotely more enticing rears it’s head.
