Anti-Consumer choices and a plea on behalf of new and returning players

So to be clear I am a player of the series since the launch of Destiny One, I have played every expansion through multiple characters. When Destiny 2 launched I played that as well and the first two expansions but then found that my time was more limited as my university degree began winding toward its conclusion. As a result of this I missed the advent of the seasonal story-lines. For me playing destiny has little to do with the multiplayer experience, I am not an avid collector of weapons I will never use, I play it for the story that I enjoy. With previous story-lines I was always welcome to return at any time and play through stories that I enjoyed or had missed, until now. Now I am required to play through stories on a schedule provided by yourselves with little regard for the demands life may place on upon me. I have seen it said many times that seasonal things will not be available to those whom missed them due to a plethora of concerns; as I am someone who cares little for the seasonal gear and just wants to feel like a part of the story, being unable to partake of large swaths of it feels unfriendly and unwelcoming, as though I am unwelcome in the new Destiny that you are crafting in the age of game as a service. It must also feel this way to a great many who may wish to play Destiny for the first time but feel that they are unable due to having missed so much that they are now unable to access. When engaging in replays of the campaign and previous expansions their is an unspoken agreement that the player will not be able to experience the entire thing, such as rediscovering certain skills or the grind toward objectives on new worlds. This is a welcome compromise for being able to return at any time and re-experience these stories so as to reconnect to the Destiny plot. Why this cannot be the same for seasonal story missions I do not understand, I would happily forgo seasonal rewards and gear in order to be able to experience even a pale shadow of the story and once again feel connected to the ongoing plot rather than adrift in a universe I no longer recognize. As it stands I am in the process of completing Shadowkeep but feel as though I may be unable to continue further with Destiny as I am aware that with my University responsibilities growing my free time will only become more scarce and Destiny, at present, will not accommodate. If this is something you yourselves have considered then I have little doubt that many would welcome news that seasonal stories missions, at the very least, will be open to all and not just the lucky few with time to spare.
