so here's my "why i left" answer bungie wanted

before i start, i would like to say that i have been playing since d1 day 1. now obviously it isnt the same game anymore and there is no more fun to be had. and just because iv been playing for a long time dont mean that my opinions are the only thing that matters. i think i figured out why i wont be playing anymore there is no story. the lore is great, but i didn't buy a video game to read now did i? and what little story there is, its stretched out into ridiculous 1 mission a week now (if any at all.) the main dlc's had most of the story but all they ever do is introduce cool ideas, and leave them there never to touch it again, to a completely different universe, with a different big bady, that is barely connected if at all, and here lately, the only connection they have i cant remember because it was so boring. it misses the mark in every box.switching to seasons was one of the biggest downfalls. free to play, while great for most MMO's, it wont work here. everybody knows destiny is the most popular when new dlc's drop. but nobody cares anymore, since your seasonal model is so baren and un-interesting. not to mention all new light players are immediately confused on what the hell is going on. f2p came out half baked. plain and simple. pvp has always been a gimmick to me. nothing against the best of the best, but how can you take the game into a "competitive" scene if its still peer to peer? not to mention thanks to f2p there are cheaters in every single lobby. AND IM NOT EVEN GOOD! i freaking suck! pve has suffered a lot. whats the point? the new best thing is just the same old things reskinned... nothing new. any builds you can come up with is just straight up over kill for all the enemies, or just freaking dumb. boss stomp still is a thing. constant nerfs to everything to the point i dont even care anymore. no new strikes since shadowkeep and it had what? 2? in an entire year? cool! where is the difficulty option we had in d1 for literally everything? i miss being able to choose how hard a story mission is, or maybe a hardmode patrol area? loot. its all the same, sure sunsetting is coming and people defend it, but the reality is, nothing will make me care about a reskin of a reskin, of a gun i once had, then had nerfed, sunset, then forced to regrind. nothing new or interesting just more of the same. overall, this game cant deliver what i wanted it to be. its happy being mediocre. and thats ok, but when a dev team thinks i want to play destiny 2 on my phone using stadia... i know its been to long since they actually played a game, only ever make them. in between mtx's and marketing. bugs/glitches, lack of foresight, and no singular direction for them game has truly killed the game for me. if any of these changes are addressed and fixed. i might hop in, but i will never buy the seasons, il just use the f2p version, that honestly i feel most people do. and its hurting bungie, and bad. anyways, maybe some of you guys can relate, and im sure people will call this -blam!- and moaning. but im not gonna answer bungies stupid questionnaire on why i left, since theres too much to be said. i hope everything works out for you guys. but i play games for fun, not as a job, i know shocker. peace out!

  • Seasonal content model "time locking" is a joke, I understand there maybe some technical difficulties with keeping certain content permanently in the game, but if this franchise wants to compete it needs a massive overhaul for its next title. MMOs have plenty of content packs and DLCs (both free and paid) that are not time locked and can be accessed WHENEVER you want, no matter if you're just starting out as a newbie or if you're a returning player, so long as you own the relevant pass or the DLC expansion, you can play it. What I'm trying to say is, that content does not expire and its yours...to keep, FOREVER! You don't miss any of the previous story content or rewards and you don't suffer from FOMO. A good example of why this is bad, I left D2 between Forsaken and just before the first season of content dropped (think it was the season of the drifter or whatever). When I finally decided to jump back into D2 a few months ago after almost 1 year away, it left me confused and frustrated! Where is all the story content from the previous seasons? Who is the drifter? What happened in the Black Armory? Who is Siviks? How did Saint 14 return? How do I access the Sundial? What are the corridors of time? Why is the Almighty crashing down upon us? I'll never know because I missed those seasons and all the related story quests, armor, weapons.... Etc because it was time locked. I had absolutely no idea what was going on! I had to look it up on Google or YouTube! Imagine how all this would look to a new player? Or, worse, a returning player? They're going to be bored and confused AF! I then logged out and jumped onto ESO, an MMORPG after about a year of not playing that too. I have the paid "eso+" membership which means all the content is "free" and available no matter where I am in the game, I quite easily caught up with the story from their previous year long storyline expansions and was satisfied to know I could take my time playing through it and had even more content and side quests to dig into further in. The only time locked content that I missed out on was all cosmetic things, which is fine. Locking story content behind a seasonal model or a "battle pass" and then removing it after the season is over is a terrible idea and will only make this game's life span even shorter! Both the quantity and quality of the content needs to be improved and not time locked.
