Depending where you look and who you ask about sunsetting, you will get wildly differing opinions. Me personally, I think it can make sense as a reason to continue a healthy grind of armor with transmog coming, but a terrible idea when it comes to weapons. Weapons are an extension of the look, feel, playstyle, and story of a player, so forcing them to move on from that is a terrible idea imho (Can you imagine if Bungie told Saint-14 he had to sunset his Perfect Paradox while trapped in the Infinite Forest. . .even though his enemies kept getting stronger?). If you want to know more about what I think on weapon balance and solving "power creep," then you can check out my topic from earlier this month: This is how Bungie can fix everything (sandbox, "power creep", no sunset) Back to the topic at hand: Instead of rehashing the sunset debate here, I thought it would be more interesting to find out what it is that players prioritize most in this game. Do you think of it as a LOOTer shooter (heavy emphasis on the loot) or is it the story and experiences that truly matter to you (not whatever weapons you happen to be using). I expect the majority will be some mixture of both grind and content, but I am curious if more people will be like me and favor content with a more optional grind like we are accustomed to. Bonus discussion: if the community does end up favoring content more, would you be opposed to Bungie making seasons last longer than 3 months so they have more time to develop new, quality content (since time seems to be their main excuse for sunsetting)? Would 4 months be okay? Could you even suffer 6 months between drops if the content was good enough? And obviously Bungie still has operating costs, so would you be okay paying more per season (but same yearly price)? Feel free to comment below about your priorities, or about the bonus topic of Bungie potentially taking more time to get content right. As always, if you are going to be critical of someone, try to also make a constructive suggestion as well; don't just say what's bad, also include what would be better. Thanks for reading and discussing, and have a great weekend!
