Destiny story line theory

Here's my conspiracy theory that ties some things together, seems to make sense of some cut scenes, and predicts the future story-line. I'm sure there are holes it it, but this is how I'd like to see the story play out! The Traveler is actually a farming machine crafted by the Darkness to build up societies for the Darkness to reap. It has happened in many places and many times. It has happened in our system several times before. Remember the opening movie on D1? At about 1:12, they cycle through the same scene with a landscape that is slightly different in each frame. One frame was from each season of humanity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ny7XhR4URZE Osiris and Rasputin scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqnVt0wLyr4 He says "A line has been drawn in this system. Light on one side. Dark on the other." Mara Sov scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1524gxY1OE "A side should always be taken. Even it it's the wrong side." They're very careful not to say what side they're on though. Savathun keeps the dreaming city curse going to rack up death to feed her worm. The Dreaming City curse is unending, and kept going by "Mara Sov", who is probably Savathun in disguise, through taken Vex mind Quria. (Hello, the Queen hides in an ascendant plane throne room?!) The female dialogue in the Taken King movie is supposedly Mara. Was there ever a Mara that wasn't Savathun? "I remember everything about the day I was born. I still bear the scars. The Awoken are my family now. And I am their queen. We fought to keep our beautiful creation safe." The last bit refers to her own personal Dreaming City death farm, probably in secret from The Darkness. "You and I know how this ends. We've known since you escaped from that pit. The Awoken have played their part. This was all part of the plan. Guide them my hidden friend. It is all up to you now." The dialogue is directed at Eris. It is she who came out of the pit. The Awoken are dead risen by Savathun to feed her worm and grow her power. Eris only lives and is haunted by visions of her fireteam in Shadowkeep because she serves the Hive, specifically Savathun, goddess of trickery. Savathun has thus been using Eris to get us to fight Oryx's forces so that she can rise in power. Eris always wants to wipe out the hive. But it's always specifically Oryx's hive. And she keeps doing and collecting mysterious Hive-y magic things. She helps the guardians because it hurts Oryx and any other competition for Savathun. Sidebar: Eris Morn's original human name was "Erisia Pyatova-Hsien", according to Destinypedia. That looks like someone trying to make words out of an anagram to me. Turns out it actually an anagram for "A Hive parasite is yon." (and a few other things that have "hive" and "parasite" in the list of words) Rasputin is old. Older than we know. More than one cycle. Osiris has been around a long time. Longer than we know. More than one cycle. Osiris guards a path where humanity is not totally wiped out by the Darkness and lives on for another season, and this is his chosen path. The Golden Age is actually the peak of the previous cycle. The Collapse is the previous culling. The Dark Age is the time where we've been recovering. The time of the Collapse was chaotic. Exos were created to try to make humans non-nourishing to the Hive. There was great choas in this period with a lot of infighting between people that didn't know what was really going on. Rasputin disabled the Traveler to keep it from leaving and also breaks the cycle. He was attacked by some groups who didn't know why he did it. That made him quite guarded against humanity. Back to Osiris, he doesn't like interference. He thinks Rasputin will get humanity killed outright by the Darkness because we're now more trouble than we're worth. Having been disabled, the Traveler went to a secondary protocol to resurrect the dead as guardians and create a cycle of guardian death and ghost resurrection carnage farming hell as well as to protect itself from the Fallen and Cabal. All of this is done for the Hive to feed their worms until the darkness returns. It also serves to weed out weakness in the Hive like a proving ground. Then there's the Cabal... The Cabal are actually the heroes and have been chasing the Darkness across the galaxy and humanity is just the latest deluded upstart victim of the Darkness/Traveler. They've been doing well, and the Traveler has created an unwitting army of the dead to fight the Cabal and who will defend their own hellish reality out of ignorance. This is why Ghaul tried to shut down the Traveler and brush aside the army of Humanity. Calus is from another school of thought and sees value in trying to train a guerrilla force of Guardians to fight the Darkness. When Ghaul was defeated, the Traveler woke and sent a message to the Pyramid ships telling them the greatest general of their foes had been defeated and it was safe to swoop in and harvest what was left of the crop. The Cabal aboard the Almighty, desperate to stop the Darkness, turn to using The Almighty itself as a last ditch weapon. The Almighty isn't pointed at Earth. It's pointed at the Traveler. The Fallen are the most recent previous victims of the Traveler machine and can't let go so they fight humanity to try to get back to the warm light of the Traveler. The wildcard saviors of humanity will be the Drifter and/or Uldred who will actually turn out to be a chaotic good rogue and a vengeful brother that will save humanity along with Ikora, Zavala, Rasputin, and the Cabal. They somehow faked Cayde's death (or worked around it in secret) and he'll make a comeback just he's needed most. They'd never be able to make it work in the context of Destiny 2 though unless we can somehow wrest control of the Traveler from the Darkness. The Cabal couldn't be an enemy faction any more unless they worked in a new story line to have the enemy Cabal be some kind of rebel faction.

Awesome post dude! The whole traveller being the darkness plot sounds like the story before bungie shifted the direction of destiny back in early development! I hope bungie have something as interesting cooked up for the future!!

Is this a fanfic? Because literally everything here is wrong. The traveler is NOT EVIL, Savathun is using the dreaming city as a murder battery to feed her worm, and Mara sov is NOT savathun, Osiris doesn’t like Rasputin because the infinite forest showed him Rasputin’s lie, how he killed the iron lords, The cabal destroy entire systems by annihilating stars, they are not good guys, The darkness wants a final shape, for everything to die, and the traveler wants peace, for nothing to die, ever, CAYDE IS DEAD AND HES NEVER COMING BACK, I’m too tired to go on

    • I see 2 major problems with your theory. Their names are Unveiling and Confessions. Unveiling tells the story of the gardener and winnower, assumes to be the traveller and darkness, and the beginning of their existence, predating reality as we know it. Confessions tells the story of how Calus sees the days leading up to the darkness’ arrival. He intends to destroy everything and everyone before finally killing us (his favorite shadow) so he may be the last sentient being alive and be killed last by the darkness.

      • Everything here is wrong. Ra-Ra didn’t shoot the Traveler. I keep saying this to people but they keep acting like flat earthers and anti vaxxers.
