Hold button to throw smoke bomb

For when you are surrounded by 40 nightmare thrall and the game believes it would be in your best interests to try and punch one of them

  • I liked this a few days ago but I want to specifically iterate how aggravating it is to use a trench barrel cqc and peg a Cabal on the forehead from a foot away with a smoke bomb rather than actually melee.

  • So it's not just me then. It baffles me that a thing as simple as adding another keybinding, quite literally a few dozen lines of code if your code is anywhere above complete spaghetti level, has not been done in almost four years of D2 being ported to PC. There are other annoying aspects of the game, like bouncing off, or getting stuck on, a pebble, or losing your first jump because you fell off said pebble, but these are core physics engine aspects that are quite hard to address. Keybinds though? I don't code for a living, but even in my code it's literally less than 10 lines to add one to a menu depending on the language. I really do wish Bungee would give devs one week a season to work on their personal pet projects. You would be amazed how much an engineer can do in a week if they're working on their own brainchild. I've done this with orgs I've worked with and the results have never failed to amaze me. Anything from years-old bugs being squashed to prototyping patentable ideas, nothing was off the table. Not to mention that engineers' own needs often go unaddressed due to schedule pressure, so things like tooling always take the back seat. Give them a week of focused work and they'll put in 80 hours to make their own lives much more bearable and productive.

      More evidence that they* don't play their own game. If anyone* at Bungie had experienced this, it probably would have been fixed. *I'm referring to those in charge, the decision makers. I believe most Bungie employees play the game (when they're not being overworked to complete underwhelming content) and probably have the same complaints.

    • I agree and warlock top tree solar should be hold for example 1sec for one fireball 2sec for two fireball Up to 5 sec for 5 fireball (I wish)

      • Now that's a Solid idea. I would like to add Warlock/Titan Class ability to be double tap like Hunter. I hate sliding and Bam Barricade when I didn't mean too at times.

      • I love when I try throwing a ranged melee and my character lunges forward 10 meters to punch the enemy Then when I have a melee range buff and I'm 3m away I punch the air

          • All melees that can be thrown need to be able to be separated from the none throw-able melees. Welcome to the D1 asked about stuff Bungie still ignores to this day.

          • That’s always been a minor thorn in my side! Only exceeded by my trying to throw a knife or bomb from a distance, but without a charge. There’s just no way to look smooth punching the air 15 feet away from the nearest enemy. 😅

            • I hate how this works (badly) both ways, not only can I melee lunge accross a room when I want to throw smoke, but when I'm point-blank-nose-to-nose and I want to punch that alien scum in the face for an insta-kill I always seem to give them a nice face of smoke. Any chance of a completely different button?

            • Also, if I’m holding down the trigger and shit gets real and in my excitement I press r3 while moving it should prioritize the shooting not cancel shooting sprint. I will stop shooting if I actually want to run. Happens all the time in pvp

            • I don’t use my void subclass often, but damn does this annoy the hell out of me when I’m trying to use my throwing knifes/knife and instead I get sucked in from 6 feet away to a normal melee. The minions of the darkness aren’t following the mandated social distancing rules. 😡😂

              • This for throwing knife too. Can't tell you how many fights I've lost in crucible trying to melee someone stepping on my toes but I wind up a knife instead.

                • Actually, I’d like the opposite for celestial fire If you didn’t know, celestial fire does less damage than a normal melee But if I’m in close range, instead of doing the normal melee, it uses the celestial fire charge Which makes my melee a 3 shot in crucible instead of 2 Add that on to the low base warlock melee speed and you get a guaranteed loss of any melee fight
