Depending where you look and who you ask about sunsetting, you will get wildly differing opinions. Me personally, I think it can make sense as a reason to continue a healthy grind of armor with transmog coming, but a terrible idea when it comes to weapons. Weapons are an extension of the look, feel, playstyle, and story of a player, so forcing them to move on from that is a terrible idea imho (Can you imagine if Bungie told Saint-14 he had to sunset his Perfect Paradox while trapped in the Infinite Forest. . .even though his enemies kept getting stronger?). If you want to know more about what I think on weapon balance and solving "power creep," then you can check out my topic from earlier this month: This is how Bungie can fix everything (sandbox, "power creep", no sunset) Back to the topic at hand: Instead of rehashing the sunset debate here, I thought it would be more interesting to find out what it is that players prioritize most in this game. Do you think of it as a LOOTer shooter (heavy emphasis on the loot) or is it the story and experiences that truly matter to you (not whatever weapons you happen to be using). I expect the majority will be some mixture of both grind and content, but I am curious if more people will be like me and favor content with a more optional grind like we are accustomed to. Bonus discussion: if the community does end up favoring content more, would you be opposed to Bungie making seasons last longer than 3 months so they have more time to develop new, quality content (since time seems to be their main excuse for sunsetting)? Would 4 months be okay? Could you even suffer 6 months between drops if the content was good enough? And obviously Bungie still has operating costs, so would you be okay paying more per season (but same yearly price)? Feel free to comment below about your priorities, or about the bonus topic of Bungie potentially taking more time to get content right. As always, if you are going to be critical of someone, try to also make a constructive suggestion as well; don't just say what's bad, also include what would be better. Thanks for reading and discussing, and have a great weekend!

  • I'm not shocked at all that no one (so far) thinks the grind is more important than the content. I do find it interesting, however, that little more than 10% would even consider them of equal importance. Plz keep the upvotes and poll results coming! Send it over to reddit as well if you hold sway there.

    • Right now all content up to this moment in time either existed or exists for a grind, most of those grinds are considerably long grinds. Those that are excluded are Vendors (We all acknowledge how they've been treated til 2.0), Heroic Stories (Not heard a single peep from people who run these every week and find them fun)y The old nightfall, Same as stories but people do use them to get their strike bounties done without having to race against other fireteams to get the kills. Lost sectors, similar to above but gunsmith and some quests. Patrols & public, gunsmith parts & resources if new disposable gear that you'll replace and dismantle.

    • I want what Bungie promised when they were taking my money, a multi-year story driven PvE game with a little bit of PvP for those who like that. What I got was no story, a PvE grind, and endless PvP that sets the rules for all the gear. And they want me to pay for it. How do I make a constructive comment when I know that Bungie only cares about money? We all know that they only listen to their precious streamers. They won't react to the player base until we stop supporting them financially. A good form of grind would be to play what's there now for the next year and not purchase anything. No updates, no Eververse, nothing. Let the owners L.L.C. get nervous about their cash flow. Only then will Bungie maybe, possibly, start listening to the average player.
