SUNSETTING SUCKS: AFTER TWO WHOLE YEARS, I JUST NOW GOT MY FIRST OUTLAW/RAMPAGE WRONG SIDE OF RIGHT. ALWAYS WANTED ONE.

Sunsetting suck. Why cant they just make more powerful weapons AS they make HARDER ACTIVITIES? Make us WANT TO move on to better things. Seriously, two years just to get ONE decent roll on the Wrong Side of Right that isn't even a god roll. Bungie needs to SHOWER us with loot so we can get the good rolls early in their life cycle or it's not worth it. Edit: To the people saying, "Wrong Side of Right" isn't even that good: Yes, I know, that's not the point. It only illustrates that it will be possible to never get a decent roll of something you actually want in the proposed lifespan of sunset weapons. Look at the bigger picture.

  • Remember the Reckoning and how they tried to make a difficult activity to match our growing guardian power only to end up with fireteams requiring Nova Bombs and Tethers if they wanted a chance at even completing the bridge? Power in the game is a balance. If everything is too balanced with nothing sticking out, you end up with boring content like we saw in D2Y1. If we have very powerful weapons/abilities creating too much imbalance, we wither steamroll endgame content or create content that requires meta builds and nothing else (ie Reckoning, and to a lesser extent, the SotP raid boss). Sunsetting helps balance the game without straight nerfs, meaning there will be a rotating meta based on the weapon selection over the course of the year. Also, your newly obtained gun will still be useful in 90% of activities in the game, no reason to YELL IN ALL CAPS.

      • Your disappointment will fade if you remove rewards and incentives from your expectations. Your desire to play will then plummet, because there's no story or benefit to playing daily, weekly or seasonally. At least, that's what happened to me. It's been over a month and I still can't bring myself to sit down for another strike or activity. This is why I dislike f2p and game services. Everything changes and nobody asked for it.

The simple fact is a ton of people will leave if they go forward with sunsetting. I will likely be one of them. Not because I can’t play the game without weapon X or armor Z, but because Bungie can clearly see how many people don’t want this. Sunsetting old weapons, as many others have pointed out, does not fix ANYTHING, weapon balancing does. If Bungie goes ahead and does this, it will be the clearest and most irrefutable indicator of Bungies COMPLETE lack of respect for their player base and our time. This change serves NO GOOD PURPOSE, and I believe every word they have said about why they even want to is a lie. If they do this (and every indicator says they will, despite how we feel), WE SHOULD FIRE BUNGIE (as in delete their software and never give them another moment of our TIME). Many people already have. Game companies this clueless about how to treat their players have no business making games. The ONLY thing they are doing here is deliberately wasting our time.

          • "make us want to move on to better things" Because that's called power creep and it kills any enjoyment that a game has quickly. Even so, people don't want "better things" they just want more outlaw/rampage rolls, they could care less about anything else.

          • Forsaken was the op year. Guardians were powerful. Weapons were powerful. Content was powerful. Shadowkeep is the go backwards year. Guardians got weaker. Weapons got weaker. Content got weaker. Sunsetting isn't the answer to power creep. You'll still be able to use the old gear in about everything but some activities in Y4. Use the new stuff for the high tier activities and then switch to the old for everything else. Patrol zones will always be low light at least.

            • People will stop chasing or caring about rolls about the mid-point of the "use period". Why grow attached to something that Luke Smith will take away in a few months. Luke wants ASPIRATION. I think he's created the opposite (apathy). [he is the guy that said last summer that more FOMO would be awesome; those had to be there moments] If Parsons is still actually running the show, he needs to like, actually run the show. Take over now and right the ship!

they cant just make better guns, because then that is going to just reduce the ttk across the board in pvp and pve and just make the game overall easier by adding sunsetting it allows them to create new and possibly better gear without people just saying that it needs a buff because some guns they already have in the game are already too powerful like mountaintop and recluse for example and most likely when previous guns get reintroduced into the pool, you wont have to re grind them if you dont have them already and their max power will just get updated (cant confirm but it makes sense) so you might still be able to use your pulse

              • The problem here clearly isn't sunsetting tho, its RNG. How did sunsetting ever effect you in this scenario? Its a weapon from Forsaken, and anything from Forsaken was heavily RNG based. All of Gambit Prime weapons are the least fun thing to grind for, and no one likes going back and forth to Ada for frames. And trying to farm for a (mostly) engram drop from Forsaken is just asking for bad RNG. I'm not even sure if it drops from engrams anymore, which was the easiest source for that weapon. But now farming for weapons is easier than ever because Bungie actually learned. You can choose what weapon you want to grind for instead of hoping you get that Spare Rations instead of another curated Outlast. So try not to strawman Sunsetting, when RNG is the clear villain here. But Bungie did learn from all the complaints of RNG from Forsaken content, and made RNG a lot less of a -blam!- in Shadowkeep. And mean as it may sound but, you only have yourself to blame for continuing to grind Forsaken weapons, when everyone knows that they are very unforgiving to grind for. But if you really still want that one weapon, why blame Bungie when you finally get it. You knew what you were in for, and still act entitled to keep it when we've known for months that sunsetting was coming.

              • Yep, I completely understand you. After 288 escalation protocols for my first Ikelos shotgun, 183 hollow lairs for my god roll mindbender, dismantling over 300 tranquility snipers till the one I wanted, killing riven 44 times for 1000 voices, doing scourge 68 times for anarchy, blowing up galarhand 32 times for tarrabah, about 50 gardens of salvation vex genocides to get the god rolled weapons there with still a god roll hand cannon and pulse rifle missing, doing over FOUR HUNDREAD insight terminus to get a god roll long goodbye, 500+ menagerie runs and still only have about 70% of the god rolls I want there and double that amount of runs in forges with still a blast furnace missing from my god roll collection I will state that there is no lack of exiting drop moments for me when I finally can stop the grind after getting my god roll. That's EVERY SINGLE WEAPON in my vault: a god roll with hours to months of farming behind it and is my sole drive to play the game. Now all of them will become obsolete in seasons to come thanks to sun setting. Try to put yourself in the shoes of collector players like me and many others and tell me why should I keep playing after this insult that is gear retirement? I sadly enjoy destiny very much since the launch of d1, but find myself unable to continue playing and moved over to other games that respect the time I put into them. To put it simple here is what I wanted for the game: in case I spent months offline and came back my reaction needed to be "Oh look how much new stuff I have to go after! More god rolls to chase, how do I get them, let me infuse my old god rolls to the new level so I can do the new activities (Strikes, raids, pvp, arenas, etc) and get the new weapons god rolls". Now for the love of god tell me WHY IS THIS such a bad thing for the players? Because this type of player seems to be what bungie hates the most and intentionally screws over the most. What I now have is this: "Ok, Im back after months, let me see what I missed... oh cant get them ever again... and my old gear, cant use it in new activities anymore... well I guess ill go back to check warframe then..."

I had a friend, who started playing 3 months ago. Specially because this quarantine got most of us bored to where we give games we never played or was afraid to play a try. So after a month later, about 7 to 8hrs a day 4 to 5 days a week he was grinding specfic weapons. Just yesterday 2 out of the 5 weapons he wanted came with rolls he wanted. He called me next day told me to get on we about to have a blast, hes glad he waited before trying destiny 2 after all the negativity and BS bungie does. I almost didnt have the heart to tell him, all that grind is gonna be for nothing. Well at least just for awhile longer, then itll be useless because sun setting. After I showed him and explained what is happening or going to happen, the disappointment in voice kinda made up my mind too. He not only uninstalled the game, but once things go back to slightly normal, meaning jobs opening again, he wont have the time to grind and invest as much as he did now. And that he was happy with his weapons. To have them being sun set and then regained. He literally gave up on bungie and destiny for good now. He was a D1 player, did his raid had all 3 characters maxed, etc etc... I just cant believe it, i had to give such bad news and see him be let down like that. I mean we all love destiny in our own way, we might not all agree with what bungie does and doesnt do. But some of their actions just doesnt make any sense, and they have the nerve to say "we are listening"??? What if , and this is just an example, they give us some sort of token maybe 5 tops to bring w.e weapons we liked forward and those will be it. I mean I just barely got a decent roll with the AR called something hunger from reckoning? And I been trying to get that AR to drop since the day gambit dlc dropped lol. While I didnt devote my life to grinding that dlc, I did put few hrs a day, every other day, until just recently to get what I wanted. To see and hear they being sunset, I ask myself, what's the point anymore. And now I hear gear being sunset too?? Why gear though makes no sense. All that masterwork, all that hard work to get cores, if I'm gonna just lose that, why even MM anything, why even bother? The amount of grind bungie asks for doesnt balance out the fun and good loot. I promise you all, we will get nothing but blues an a token, unless its from bounties. The only way to even get weapons or gear will be bounties like forges or rituals on moon. And to top it off, itll probably be a reskin of a reskin of something that has different paint for us to regrind and pay for content that's already there because everything is just hard for bungie to do.

2 Years??? 2 Years???? 🤔 Coming from someone who has the most GRIND, long Waiting Sparrow, didn't get a OutLaw/Rampage Wrong Side of Right???? You should have gotten at least over 150 of those in those 2 years. I'm so confused. 🤨🤔🤔 Edit: those things drop Rain.
