The Dark Man Cometh
I think we have it wrong by assuming the ships are coming to attack (initially). The dark said they’d be coming to see us soon so I’m thinking this is why we’re seeing the ships on the radar in the bunkers.
The dark just wants to talk for right now. Probably going to say we’re the perfect shape and want to give us power to reign supreme over the vex and win the game of life. They just came with a show of force.
Possible scenario is the pyramid ship becomes a social space or mission area like the dreadnaught. And eris dies along the way or turns into Savathun.
This sets up D3 with the dark already here and can attack whenever but also flip everything and help us fight the vex/sav/etc as the end game boss and all the while we were balancing light and dark and finally become legend and go into our own pocket universe as a game of life champion

1 ReplyThere was theory in D1 that the real bad guy is Savathun in the guise of Queen Mara Sov. And her right hand was always Erris. Savathun is a trickster. Erris said in one of the strikes , that Savathun does not engage in actual confrontation. Could it be possible that she is conniving or is darkness herself?

The Darkness doesn’t kill if it doesn’t have to. It culls the weak. That’s it’s purpose. It is looking for the Perfect Final Blade, as you say, and as it stands, we are it. There’s absolutely no reason to believe they’re coming to kill us. The Pyramid on Luna would’ve done that years ago if that was the case. But it stayed dormant. Watching the Guardians grow stronger and stronger with each god they kill. As you said, they’re testing our strength. They’ve BEEN testing our strength for ages. So yes, now they’re coming to recruit us. And I, for one, won’t be one of the many refusing them.
