[LORE] The Fallen Council: Theory and Speculation
Yeah, that’s right, I make lore posts you degenerates! I actually know a whole lot of lore! Some of you might not have noticed! If you want to see proof that I’ve actually made other lore posts before, you can find them in my Master Post. Fight me!
With the release of Shadowkeep we encountered Nightmares -reflections of beings that caused great suffering. Among these Nightmares was a group of 3 Eliksni, addressed as the Fallen Council in the Triumphs: Nightmare of Loronvis, Council Hand Nightmare of Rovikis, Council Hand Nightmare of Seresis, Council Hand The reveal of a group of 3 Fallen called the Fallen Council is already interesting enough on its own, but on top of that they all bear the title of “Council Hand.” For those who aren’t familiar with the terminology, a “Hand” is a person or being that serves as an enforcer or executer of someone’s will, a subordinate used as a tool by superiors. Here’s a few dictionary definitions:
”a person employed at manual labor or general tasks” “worker, employee” “a person who performs or executes a particular work” “a person skilled in a particular action or pursuit” “a specialist or veteran in a usually designated activity or region” These are some of the definitions provided by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. For more definitions, you can search for more from Webster with a simple google search. The Oxford and Cambridge Dictionaries also provide the best definitions.
This implies that these 3 are not the only members of the Fallen Council, and that they have superiors in the Council. There might even be more Hands we don’t know about. So now we can wonder about the size and strength of the Fallen Council. Because these 3 appeared as Nightmares, we know they caused a lot of suffering in the service of the Council. So what was the Fallen Council, who was in it, and what did they do? They wear Dusk colors (which can probably actually be chalked up to another result of Bungie not making new Fallen skins), so they are most likely one of the many factions that formed from House Dusk, like the Kell’s Scourge Syndicate and Eramis’s Devils Scions. This implies the Fallen Council hasn’t existed for long, which makes the manifestations of their Nightmares more impressive. So many questions, not enough answers. What are your thoughts on the Fallen Council?
On a related note, another Fallen Nightmare we face is called: Volniks, Deathkeeper We don’t know what the heck Volniks did to earn the title “Deathkeeper” but it must have been something very bloody and totally bada**. Seriously guys, what do you have to do to be called a Deathkeeper?! Volniks probably killed a whole lot of people. Having a Nightmare manifestation only confirms that Volniks did something intense.
