Hackers and how to deal with them

I've seen tons of misinformation regarding how Bungie needs to go about dealing with hackers. This will simply be an informational post to raise awareness on HOW to fight cheating. IP bans will not work. VPN's get around this. Hardware bans (ban their PC) will not work because you can spoof your hardware ID. Account bans will not work because the game is free to play and you can hit soft cap (960) in about 2 days. The game needs anti-cheat software that detects the injecting of files foreign to the game files of destiny and bans the account immediately. There needs to be a checks and balancing system, even if it's a file that reads the TOTAL number of files in a game and makes sure all the necessary ones are there. For example, if the D2 game file had 75 individual files, and you opened it with 76 you'd be banned. If you delete a file to make room for another file, the game would recognize an essential file missing and ban you as well. Just thought i'd share some knowledge to get discussions about hacking a bit more educated. Thanks for reading! -Wish

  • You know if they did they did all three maybe that would work and if a vpn or whatever is used and detected that it would ban as soon as the game was logged on to. I mean at this point the real only way to curb cheating or hacking in the sense of people manipulating game files like I knew would be a problem especially on pc. The solution would be to remove the game from pc altogether and even making people who bought the game not be able to play it because the service for it was shit down. On Xbox and PlayStation there are not as many cheaters and they are easier to deal with by banning IP address or implementing an anti cheat software that scans for any foreign files or jail broken systems and literally since a virus or something to brick a players console forcing them to buy a whole new console and if they try again the console would be bricked. I mean people have money. But constantly spending money to fix or replace a console is to much for some. Same could be done with pc as well by the game sending a virus or something that makes it where those over 1 thousand dollar pc are unplayable. I mean I own a pc but it’s use is modding Skyrim and fallout 4. I will not play destiny or any other fps piece of shit on my computer. Single player games only. I have a PlayStation to play other games on and I prefer to keep it that way. So I mean either bungie and many other game companies need to start looking into better security or going after cheaters instead of protecting them because of money or someone needs to get mad enough to start sending codes or whatever that would brick someone’s gaming console of choice. I’m glad I haven’t played this season yet. Trials was the final nail in the coffin like I knew it would be.
