I got into Destiny 2 about a year ago when Forsaken released. I looked at some of the community and I saw the same thing again and again: Destiny 1 is better than Destiny 2. I see that the feelings are still very strong to this day and I wanted to ask:
Are Destiny 1 and it's expansions worth getting today?
I have never played Destiny one, so I don't know how populated it is, but it seems like a much more positively received experience. Please let me know if it is worth the money or effort.

Yes. If you're on ps4, join the Destiny's Destiny community.
-
Yes. Go get yourself the real destiny experience. about 3 years from now d2 will have evolved into what d1 was(plus ledge grab). Just skip the pain and go right to d1.

Edited by Doctor_Roidberg: 4/3/2020 4:39:34 PMYo. Moved back over to D1 for the majority of last week and this week. If you want to see quality content D1 is the place to go. There’s some QOL issues that were changed in D2 (sprint cooldown, ledge grab, applying shaders to individual pieces) but when it comes to content replayability, unique loot, making interesting builds and feeling powerful D1 is the way to go. The player population is smaller than D2 but there’s still quite a few people. I even logged onto my PS3 Taken King account and the Tower on PS3 had a full page of people in the Tower, which is about 12 people in one server. Matchmaking for some of the more niche activities can be spotty, but for the main playlists things still matchmake quickly. And there’s quite a few active LFGs for everything D1, the one I use primarily is the PS4 community Destiny’s Destiny. Met a few great guys through that and had some good times. So I’d say get it. There’s a bit of getting used to to be done, but it’s a blast that I’ve actually done on multiple accounts. Also, ensure you buy from the console virtual store as all physical copies have expired

Do it. Its a great experience made with heart and soul. Destinys Destiny if youre on ps4, is an active community for d1 with 30000+ members.
-
Give it a go, There are two sides, people that remember D1 and it’s game play. And the others that want to ride the Almighty all the way to it’s end. Everything else is just people’s opinions.
-
It was good ...but just remember. Things that D2 has that D1 doesnt. Fast travel... Traveling from planet to planet. Bullets that hit opponents you aim at. No sprint cooldown. Class abilities. Things d1 has that D2 doesnt have.. Sparrow racing. Sparrow horns.

If you want, it's up to you.... I might delete a character and play through D1 again :) Wonder if ppl still raid. I loved D1 raids, couldn't wait for Tuesday each week....
-
No. Or honestly do what you think you should A lot of the "D1 is so good" posts are just nostalgia (yes you can experience nostalgia even if you're still playing D1) D2 honestly did make quite a few improvements, but then it also messed up in other areas. They're surprisingly equal in terms of overrall quality though. If I had to give them an overrall rating I'd say d2 is a 73% and D1 is a 72.5% C- for the both of them.

Destiny 1 is better in a lot of ways, especially in the Crucible. Unfortunately, with a smaller player base, it's harder to get matched up with others. Matchmaking takes forever in PvP, unless you are playing the weekly play list. There's also no Iron Banner there anymore. If you can find people to play with, their strikes are fantastic. Heroic Strikes, in particular. Same goes for Prison of Elders and Archon's Forge. Great events.

It’s an experience you won’t get anywhere else. D1 was my life
-
The game is awesome. If you use Three of Coins during strikes, nightfall, anything really, you’ll get exotic engrams. Not every time but the chances jump significantly. Xur has them and it’s Friday. Crucible.... with all the piece of shit red bars(terrible internet connections), it gets frustrating quickly. Plus, getting a match going, outside the weekly featured crucible, is almost impossible. But D1 is Super Busy!!! PS4’s community has LFG’s( Destiny’s Destiny). Raids constantly
-
only time i make an appearance on destiny one is on friday mornings at 10 am bst for my weekley xur inventory video until october then it will be 9 am gmt other than that i usually catch up on things .
-
if you have not played it. yes get all of it now that it is way cheaper. you will enjoy, as long as you stay off the forums.
-
People always romanticize D1
-
Edited by dippy trooper: 4/3/2020 12:19:39 PMNo do not give bungie any of your money for any reason at all. For as long as they are given money they will continue to churn out shit.
-
Yes it's far superior to d2
-
I played a little D1 the other night. I’m still trying to get a good roll on the Shadowprice Autorifle. Good times...
-
Why go back to D1 when you can just go back to Halo 3 or Reach?
-
You are talking about if you should move over to Destiny 1 I never should have moved over to Destiny 2 😂😂😂😂
-
I tried destiny 1 yesterday and I gotta say if u ever want to beat up people in pvp that is the way to go and have some actual pvp fun at least for me
-
There are still people playing D1. You see them at the tower and in patrol areas and strikes. I went back during rollback #1 and #2 and play sometimes when bored of D2. Patrolled Venus, plaguelands, did most of the campaign missions. Went back and patrolled the Dreadnaught even did several Court of Oryx events with 3-4 blueberries. Had some friends decide to join me and ran Prison Of Elders. Killed Skolas again. Good times
-
I went back last year, movement was insanely slow and there were like nobody in strike playlist. Its a ded game.
-
The game is pretty much dead so you'd have a very difficult time doing the activities like PoE or raids.
-
If you want to play the campaigns solo, D1 could be fun. But it's not going to be well populated. In general matchmaking might take forever and I don't believe there's much if any support still for it. The BIG thing is crucible... I don't know this for sure, but I imagine there are no casuals left in D1, meaning the only people still playing crucible there are hard-core sweats who worked so long in that system they never wanted to leave. Just some thoughts. Destiny is a community based current game. But again if you want the campaign solo experience, give it a go!
-
I'd say so. It's got a ton of content, content which is REPLAYABLE, and overall the better game. I give anything to muster up the willpower to get on and play through the Taken King again.

Edited by shirley timple: 4/3/2020 3:07:31 PMIt's more fun than this trash heap and they're done missing with it. If a gun is strong, it will be that way every single time you use it. No abilities nerfed due to pvp pvssies, no weapons reworked in the name of that illusive "balance" bungie uses to excuse their constant tweaking. I'm on xbox and it's even got a built in lfg feature so i have no trouble matching with others when i choose to
