We started with a pretty hollow game back in 2014, but it got updated over time until we had pretty much the perfect Destiny in the end.
Why does everyone think D1 was some flawless masterpiece? Take off the nostalgia goggles and realize D1 was just as flawed as D2. [Edit] Jesus, I'm not trying to defend the shit state the game is in right now, I'm saying D1 was equally as shitty. Did you all magically forget the content drought after TTK? Did you forget how light level on gear pre TTK got capped making it completely useless? The fact that we spent an entire year with only one raid dropping gear that was useable? Face it, D1 up until the very end of its lifespan was complete shit. Even now I go back to D1 and it doesn't feel very different at all. Guns still feel the same and there arent as many abilities as in D2. Hell, movement is worse without ledge grab. I'm not saying D2 is good by any means, but holy hell stop sucking off D1 like it's a masterpiece because it's not.

  • Still more enjoyable than D2. Especially, Age of Triumph.

  • the majority of missions in destiny 1 was go here. ghost scan something and you deffend mobs upon mobs of enemies so many times during the campaign it was boring and tedious i was glad when the taken king dropped with additions of heroic strikes so you can grind it for strike uniques and here was an old archive video of me getting the imago loop below but it was and slow start to destiny 1 until the taken king changed all that.

Destiny 1 wasn’t about the missions tho, the campaign wasn’t great but all the other activities were amazing. I finished vog over 150 times, I used to run sword for people and it was so much fun, I’d run for people on oryx, and I’d help carry people on part 4 of wotm. The raids felt replayable and enjoyable. The armor in destiny 1 you wanted to earn because it all looked super cool, the ornaments were so sick, trials was sweaty but rewarding and going flawless was the best feeling. Exotic quests were enjoyable and worth your time especially the swords. And building up all three characters felt refreshing rather than repetitive. I’m sorry but you’re completely wrong if you think D1 was just nostalgic. It was so much more fun. I have logged probably 20 hrs in the past 4 months of destiny 2 I just don’t enjoy any of it

  • let's face it year one of the franchise the hardcore players hated it due to the coprehensive lacklustre story campaign they had one decent raid that was the vault of glass along came the dark below that had one mediocre raid that should have being an strike aptly titled crota's end roleon to year two and what did the house of wolves bring to the hardcore players absolutely nadda there was no raid but in it's place an hoarde mode fest ironically titled the house of wolves things didn't get better until the widley recieved the taken king with an brand new raid and heroic strikes . then in year three due to delay the release of destiny 2 for another year but in it's place the rise of iron took one step forward with an raid and couple steps back with an short campaign an court of oryx style public event called archons forge . that you needed some sought of an rune to participate . but other than that destriny 1 wasn't no way near as perfect if it wasn't for the taken king then the franchise will. be d.o.a read the full history of destiny from jason schreire

  • Destiny 1 had its flaws but it was so enjoyable, I was so excited to get home everyday to play destiny 1 wether it was to raid or to do trials or to just -blam!- around. Destiny 2 is literally the most boring trash game I’ve played in so long. It caters to -blam!-ing bot players and makes you do bounties just to be able to get good shit. I just want to play the game I don’t care about doing 50+ bounties a week. If you think destiny 1 wasn’t better then this trash. Then you’re a moron

  • No D1 was amazing when TTK dropped since than D1 was amazing, than they come to this dog shit of a game. Iron banner guns have been the same forever now! No point even grinding that shit.

  • You do raise a good point. While D1 was good, it too started out as a content-less hellhole. But the main reason people are angry about D2 is because of the content leaving the game. The content drought Bungie sought to eliminate is only getting worse.

  • I never said it was perfect. I said PRETTY MUCH perfect. If course it could've had some QoL improvements like wall grab or similar. But does it really matter that much? The game had something D2 never had. A Soul! Greed, eververse and Luke took that completely from D2 IMO

  • Yes, destiny is a flawless masterpiece of a game because it... Wait for it... Has a community. Flawless logic. Kindly hop off bungie's -blam!- carousel and take your shit take to the trash where it belongs.

  • Sweet strawman there. Look at all those times I claimed it was a flawless masterpiece. Oh wait, it's zero. I argued the use of "complete shit" as a means to sum up the game.

I'm not saying D2 is good by any means, but holy hell stop sucking off D1 like it's a masterpiece because it's not.
Be warned, rant ahead. Click at own risk.
If you put :- 1.) ledge grab, 2.) fast travel, (maybe? I actually liked riding through the scenery on D1, and used to sometimes do it on D2) 3.) QoL improvements like deleting gear from the postmaster, multiple spawn points on all maps etc 5,) the way public events are handled in D2 into D1, then D1 Y3(AoT) would be hands down a better game, than D2. Imho it still is. As to the content drought in TTK, there was plenty to do. Calcified fragments for ToM, the quests for all three exotic swords, dead ghosts to chase, factions to rank up, real IB gear that wasn’t useless, Tier twelve gear to chase, actually having time to rank up all 3 characters, guns to chase from Banshee and finally time to -blam!- about with your friends and help them chase whatever they were needing to do. Those that didn’t fully explore the dreadnought, didn’t Sherpa the raids, didn’t chase god roll weapons or Tier 12 armour will always complain that there was nothing to do. I was bored SOMETIMES in that period of D1, but I still enjoyed playing. Since Forsaken, then especially Jokers Wild/ Season of the Drifter I’ve been losing interest, now despite having paid for a full years content in Shadowkeep, I’ve NO interest nor garner any fun in playing D2 and couldn’t drum enough enthusiasm to even finish the “campaign” of Shadowkeep with just one character. I haven’t bothered to play D2 since December, even with the lockdown and having little to do. I’d rather play MK8D with my son on our Switch or replay D1 on a new account, (which I’ve done twice since December) These are just my opinions, and you are right D1 had some pretty bad missteps that you’ve already mentioned. My question to everyone reading this is:- WHY HASN’T BUNGIE LEARNT FROM THE MISTAKES IN D1 AND KEEP REPEATING THEM IN D2? (I.e. Trials, effective retirement of weapons, too grindy and too many materials, completely rebooting the game 16+ months before the game, the cycle of nerfing hard to get or sort after weapons. The list goes on and on and on!!!!) Honestly, if everyone that despises the direction D2 is taking stopped playing and played any other game, then Luke Smith and Bungie would HAVE to re-engage with lapsed playerbase. If everyone that preferred D1 played D1 instead of D2, they’d definitely get the message. I’m here till the poorly executed and half assed content I paid for is done, continuing to give Bungie feedback and opinions with regard to my perceived flaws in the product I purchased. After that I’m not going to purchase another product from them until months after release, extensive reviews and lurking here to see the complaints that surface. To be honest, even if the game is pure perfection, I still probably won’t purchase it. Bungie have already had one too many opportunities to get D2 right and they’ve failed spectacularly and repeatedly
. Sorry for the rant. To;dr :- D1 AoT is better than any era in D2. Bungie couldn’t organise a piss-up in a brewery/distillery.

  • Omg the exotic sword quests and the fragments were so much fun. I loved the puzzles and the grind felt rewarding. People say we miss it for nostalgia I just miss wanting to grind again. Destiny 2’s “grind” is boring horrid quests and doing 50+ bounties a week that don’t do anything but give you +1,2,3 light level gear “oh boy”. Destiny 2 is a literal shit stain compared to D1. Even the raids were so much more enjoyable. I wanted to repeat them and keep doing them. Destiny 2 raids suck so much ass

You’re be an antagonist. D1 refreshed all raids with exotic raid specific loot, Iron Banner dropped max light level gear including armor ornaments and then some, POE was refreshed, vendors carried weapons with different rolls week to week, gunsmith/arms day with the roll you wanted, Strikes had specific loot, etc... Did it have flaws? Sure, what game doesn’t? But c’mon man it’s not even close! Do I really need to go on? All these lazy $hitz need to do is refresh the stale content they have with relevant drops.

You're literally praising bungie for giving you old content back but In a worse form. You're exactly the kind of player bungie hopes to draw in. Good job
