What needs work in the Companion App?

Dear mods/ninjas/etc. please just delete my posts instead of moving them to #companionapp

I tried to DM a mod/ninja to ask about this, but was unable to. It’s probably my phone connection not loading the DM page or something idk. This is not an attempt to start drama. This is a serious post about satirical posts that get moved to different forums. When making satirical posts, I have noticed they have been moved to #companionapp from #offtopic. I do not feel that this is appropriate. It feels as if the #companionapp tag/sub forum is for legitimate issues and topics regarding the use of the app, including technical issues, how to use the app, etc. Moving satirical posts to that sub forum clutters these forums and makes it harder for users to find solutions to their legitimate needs. It also makes it more difficult for people who want to offer assistance to those users, to do so effectively. So rather than move posts to a sub forum in which they do not belong, please just delete them. The purpose of any joke post I make is to create a laugh and that’s it. Most of the time it gets an eye roll and downvote, but that’s okay. What isn’t okay, to me, is something I posted contributing to difficulty on a sub forum where people need legitimate assistance, or something I posted cluttering up a forum where it doesn’t belong. If someone posted a joke in offtopic: “Why did the chicken cross the road?” Or a satire post about “Here is how to get help- start by pressing Alt-F4” Would those get moved to #companinapp and #help? The first one wouldn’t because it’s an offtopic joke. The second one wouldn’t because it is not legitimate help. So a joke post or satire post moved to these forums may at worst be taken seriously as legitimate assistance, and at best clutter a forum they don’t belong in. A joke post belongs in #offtopic regardless of the subject of the joke or the punchline. If it’s inappropriate in its content, that’s fair. Delete it. Moving posts to #companionapp or other forums is counterproductive and inappropriate when that’s not where they belong. Again, I don’t mean to come across as argumentative or trying to create drama. There is nothing personal towards any one mod or ninja, and no hard feelings here. I’m just trying to contribute positively to the user experience and if I’d been able to DM about it I would have. Thank you for reading this.

  • Topics that discuss the website, its rules, or the app are appropriate for the #CompanionApp forum, even if they’re satirical. The #CompanionApp forum has three sub-forums: Android, iOS, and Web. This is intentional.

I wanted to have a discussion with the folks in OffTopic about what they think of the new CoC. It was moved. Why? Supposedly the #companionapp is the right sub-forum for discussing the CoC. I could have understood that choice if it was about feedback towards the app or the CoC or if it was just me criticizing, but that was not the goal, the goal was to talk with the people I know & value in the sub-forum I choose to make my home. I was told to make a group or something, but hell, I don't even know what that is! Not to mention, how the hell would I make one or access it! I agree with you though, no, satire posts should not be in a help/feedback section. All that does is create clutter & confusion.
