Can we curb Erentil range a little bit?

Seriously, I'm starting to get Felwinter Lie flashbacks, and I sure as S### ain't enjoying them, I'm fine with everything else about the gun (hell I have a good roll myself) but I seriously shouldn't be seen some of the cross maps that I am, I'm not saying nerf the range hard, just bring it back a by a meter or 2 to feel more inline with other Fusions

  • Lol the first erentil post to get any upvotes. I'm surprised. For real though, erentil consistently maps me from across the middle of endless vale. People say it counters shotguns, but I don't remember shotguns having a base range of 30 meters. Most people I see using erentil hog it the whole match too.

    • Comp usage stats where people equip their most effective loadouts: Fusions: ~1.8% Snipers: ~ 9 % Shotguns: ~ 10% Yes, let's nerf the most underused special artchtype so that we drive more people towards shotties.

      • People asking for nerfs all the time is what is ruining the game. Fusion rifles aren't even popular in the crucible. You might as well ask Bungie to make it compulsory to equip a shotgun as your energy weapon in the crucible.

      • Found a Wild shotgun ape. Honestly, people only use fusion so they can counter the cheap shotgunners so a nerf is not the answer. If you find it to be non balanced then i have news for you.

      • This is just much ado about nothing. I've got god rolled Eerentil rifles and I can't map people like that. People get away from me all the time. This gun isn't even in the top 10 of most used guns in the Crucible. Some in the PvP crowd are just way too fragile.

        • I don’t see a problem with range because it has charge time. Imo, the nerf should come from charge times and removing the backup plan perk just like they did with focused fire in d1.

        • Eh I play a lot of great players who do a lot more sniping than anything. If it got nerfed I'd probably never see the effects, but then again if I wanted to use a fusion I'd rather use a god roll Rapid-frame...but that's just me. When I do see people using it though, they usually have terrible movement. Having to charge up to attack is more limiting than you'd imagine.

        • This is what they need to do to high impact fusions. 1.) Nerf back up plans like smoothbore for shotguns. Faster charge rate but you lose the range and increases the spread at farther ranges. 2.) Increase the charge rate so without back up plans you can't just pull it out charge and zap before someone 3 taps you. 3.) Decrease it's range to be within the range of a handcannons damage drop off range. This way your still safe from most shotguns but your not hitting people from the range of a pulse rifle.

That think is absurd and it doesn't even need special ammo. That's what I get killed by 95% of my deaths in pvp. Erentil maybe 3% of the time. Huge difference

                  • Keep the range for punishing failed pushes, but they could add a flinch to disperse the bolts at range. That way you don't get the effect of pumping half an AR clip into their head, only to get sprayed down regardless.

                    Other fusions suck because they are trash - inconsistent at best. If you have to deal with charge time the last thing you want to worry about is inconsistency.

                  • The problem with asking for a nerf on Erentil is that it will be applied to all High Impact Fusions, rather than just a singular weapon. They all share similar pools for perks, stat arrangements, and so on. They won't hit just Erentil, they'll hit all HIF at the same time. Unlike pinnacle weapons which are special snowflakes of the weapon world, hence why we don't get them anymore, they don't really differentiate the good, the bad and the ugly in other legendaries. The meta needs to be switched up, for sure, but a nerf isn't how it should be done. They could easily fix other things wrong first, like Resilience being the worst stat in the game. There are plenty of people shouting to the mountains about how Fusions and Shotguns are 'broken' but at the start of D2 they were complaining about them being Heavy weapons. Bungie and the playerbase can't win for losing when it comes to everyone complaining about something. We have two insta-kill single shot fusions, which are exotic and I agree with. A few insta-kill grenade launchers which I'm alright with. It essentially requires a god-roll, or a perfect set of perks and gear options to optimize Erentil; learn the pattern, adapt, and over come. If gorilla tactics don't work, go long range; if you're not hearing the rev up, tune your speakers; or join the crowd and be the person people send hate-mail too. Nerfing is not always the answer, I've never used Erentil that I recall (mainly I'm not fond of Fusions) but I don't want it nerfed because its one domino and if it falls the next one has to go. Its the same thing as all the people blaming various dog breeds instead of the owner: leave the dog alone, its not its fault.

When in the history of ever, has Bungo ever nerfed anything just "a little bit?" I'll tell you when. -blam!-ing never. Bungo has never, ever, ever nerfed anything with subtle, kid gloves. They flat out -blam!-ing wreck shit into the ground. So, no, we can't nerf Erentil's range. Not even a little bit. Because it won't be a little bit. It'll be overkill and then it will be just another weapon that nobody uses anymore because it's a piece of shit.

                    • Instead of screaming nerf how about scream buff other weapons. Smh. -blam!-ing casuals always ruining it. I hate shotty and sniper I live by my fusions though. They need to buff other fusions so it's not just 1 fusion doing though. Shottys need to have a range buff slightly obviously not fusion range as fusions are charged up and EASILY HEARD DOING SO. Snipers need buffed in the sense of starting with 4 not 2 ammo I feel since it's such a precision based weapon with more focus on bigger maps to allow sniping to be like it was in D1. Fusions are OP cause of the maps not the fusions them self. Wanting to nerf them just sounds like me saying we need to nerf shotties and snipers cause they aren't my go to as they are to some even before the meta. Everyone always hating where they aren't good. Get good or request to be made on par. Quit this nerf shit. Anyone who wants a nerf needs to go back to stupid cod games.

                      • A gun does not make a player. The player makes the gun. Someone who is low skilled can try to use it and be terrible but a really good player will shine. I agree with others that if bungie nerfs one weapon, then another weapon will show up that is the same and that will need to be nerfed too. Just leave weapons alone unless they’re actually broken (I.e. Prometheus Lens, LoW)
