I'm starting to think Bungie is in checkmate.

Bungie can't move either direction without pissing off this forum. You guys are mad that Vex offensive is FOMO, but hate bungie for bringing back the same seasonal activity. I know the arguement here though.
we have to pay for sotu so its a ripoff if you pay for something but don't get to play it because your busy that season
Very true. But you can opt in and out of seasons depending on when you're able to play it. If you pay for a season right before a 3 month holiday then that's pure stupidity, I don't think anyone can argue against that. But this new season model makes it so bungie can introduce a new activity each season without burning the studio out. "Making content is hard" is the PRIMARY argument that people call bungie and their fanboys out for. They phase it as if it's absurd, that content isn't that hard and bungies just lazy. So here's my challenge to everyone who disagrees. Design a new seasonal activity, one that isn't overly-mindless. Team up with as many friends as you want and GIVE bungie your encounter pitch and the relevant models/textures/sky-box and code to go with it. THEN DO THAT EVERY 90 DAYS. Most people who say content isn't hard to make probably only have tops 1 project completed made in scratch. Bungie's in checkmate because so many of the posts conflict with each other, would you guys prefer last years festival activity be replace with something really new, or would it annoy you that you can't relive the same experience. No? Then how is it different for Vex Offensive. If you tell bungie to keep one activity but replace the other, how do you think communication is going?

I think a large part of the problem is that large portions of the community want different things as their main source for new loot. The game tries to be too many different things and so if Bungie focuses on one area then other miss out, then it switches. Bungie also aren’t afraid to try things either. Season of the Drifter is a testament to that. That was......different. As long as the game has an identity crisis(for which it ABSOLUTELY does), this will always be the case. Bungie checkmates themselves by not acknowledging the vastly different types of activities this game has and thus the very different types of gamers it has attracted. Their design philosophy is very rigid. Some group always has to miss out or begrudgingly grind something they aren’t that into in the first place. This has been the case since D1. Jack of all trades, master of none only gets one so far. The game has always a bit inconsistent and imbalanced.
