Can someone please tell me why when I changed subclass it no longer is charging to where i use L1 R!

I have looked online and everything comes up with Destiny 2 and its pissing me off....I changed my subclass and now for some reason the yellow bar that charges up top isnt doing it even for the one I chose and I want to play destiny 1 not destiny 2 [spoiler][/spoiler]
