Season of Dawn theories:

So yes I’m aware Shadowkeep ain’t even here yet and if you’re here to preach hate, I can’t be asked with you so leave. Anyways. We recently learned season of Dawn will be what is known as season 9 in Destiny 2 during year 3. So whilst walking home the other day it got me thinking as to what we will see and who we shall be meeting. So here are some ramblings and the general (plus my own) theories about season nine: Mithrax and house Light: So the most popular theory for season 9 is that we shall see the return of house Light and Mithrax for some reason or another. The correlation being that Light and dawning being a related idea. Personally I don’t agree with this theory. I don’t think that we will see a return of Mithrax till later on in year 3. I’d like to also suggest that the connection people have made between “Dawn” and “Light” don’t really work in this sense because one refers to the Sun and time, and one refers to the Traveler’s “Light”. Dawning: So the second season of each year has aired during or just before the event known as the dawning. It happened with season of the Forge and season of Osiris (season 2). The coincidence that this season shares an identical word being Dawn. However; again not a very strong theory for two reasons; 1) dawning only lasts three weeks whereas seasons last about three to four months, and 2) there is no way the dawning can possibly help resolve what happens in season of the Undying. Ok. Now those two are out the way I’d like to talk about some ramblings and mention of a few leaks (I won’t say what they are you can go look that up for yourselves). So. What we know so far about season of Dawn is this: takes place after season of the Undying. Is supposed to try to rectify an event that occurs during season of the Undying (not how it’s the season itself and not Shadowkeep, so that means that something during the season will occur). And it’s not about any one specific dawn but about dawns in general. So. What could possibly happen? Well I have two theories: Theory 1) the vex problem escalated enough to warrant a response from Osiris himself. The vex are meant to invade everywhere throughout season 8 and we are meant to stop them in a final vex incursion, which is represented by a picture that looks like the Undying mind. So I believe we may be seeing a rehashed version of the Undying mind strike take place towards the end of the season, stopping the vex invasion. But the vex having shown their power, proves Osiris wasn’t insane at all. The vanguard then request his presence in the tower for season 9 and he then becomes that temp vendor bungie went on about. A new event opens up in the infinite forest similar to haunted forest. It will eventually end with us taking over the infinite forest properly, removing the vex’s superior presence, but resistance is occurring hence why Osiris leaves at the end of the season. Theory 2) return to the leviathan. so I won’t actually state what the supposed ‘leaks’ said entirely but apparently what Eris awakens in Shadowkeep is what causes the vex invasions. This sparks the greater interest of Calus and his grand plans. He then seeks us out and tries to accelerate the happenings of the Chronicon’s contents. What then follows is a full season of us trying to change Calus’ mind about everything. We try to get him to align himself with the Light and make him a full ally instead of possible one. This wouldn’t work entirely. Only a little bit. His mind would be at conflict after we show him...something. Maybe a direct interaction with the Light. Or maybe us saving his life from something. Either way the idea is about instead of being on the dawn of the coming dark, we are instead on the dawn to a new light. So yeah. Those are my theories. And they’re just that. Theories. Post your own below or whatever. Thanks for putting up with this spewing of ideas.

  • I bet that Dawn is what will come after Ikoras amazing plan to plant a vex portal in the middle of the tower. The vex will be able to invade us directly inside and we will loose the tower. We will then have a brand new social space for season 9

Totally forgot about the Nascent Dawn quest from Warmind. 🤔 If going by the timeline of things, Undying would be in relation to CoO as Dawn would be in relation to Warmind. Elsie was on Mars before Warmind happened, but she couldn't stay.. yet.

      • I thought there was a lore tab or something that said if we defeat something on the moon, then we will break the curse of the dreaming City? I believe that's what they meant when the said "fix the timeline" cause you know you dream at night and you wake up at dawn.

      • The reason I think it has to do with House Light isn’t because of the correlation between Light and Dawn, but Dawn and the most con Fallen house currently: Dusk. Dawn, as we all know, is the direct opposite of Dusk, like Sunrise is the opposite of Sundown.

I’m thinking it’ll center around Osiris for a few reasons: The name “Dawn” and Osiris’s association with the sun/light “fix the timeline” on the whiteboard If season 10 is centered around Rasputin as the vidoc suggests then perhaps seasons 9/10 are meant to be continuations of the plotlines of Destiny 2’s first two expansions. That, and if the narrative of the seasons lead into one another it’d make sense for someone some closely involved with the Vex to feature in season 9. My current half-developed theory is that we stop the Vex in Season of the Undying but their actions leave a lasting impact on the timeline which we need Osiris’s help to resolve.
if you’re here to preach hate, I can’t be asked with you so leave. .
That is not for you to decide. I have every right to express my opinion, be it hateful or not. You cannot command people to leave to avoid hearing their opinion. If you start doing that then you’re not far from what N A Z I S were doing.

          • There is a possibility it could just be a metaphorical dawn; the beginning of something new and monumental. Typically, straightforward theories are unlikely since it’s never usually that obvious but this one carries merit. Another idea is that “undying” and “dawn” could be antonyms indicating Season of Dawn will be related to and possibly conclude Season of the Undying. The word undying sounds malicious in nature while dawn sounds benevolent, making them antonyms in this case, but this is also a straightforward and rather less believable theory.

          • I’m personally inclined to go with the Fallen civil war stuff, since that is a plot thread that has connections to so many events, even dating back to Destiny 1, and is also directly linked to Forsaken through Variks and Uldren. We’re still missing the connection between that and Season of the Undying, but it’s supposed to be this way. About that last one though: They said what we do in the raid causes the Vex invasions, not Eris‘s actions or what she awakens. Indirectly, they probably do, since going to the moon will somehow lead to the portal and raid, but that isn’t what they meant.

                  • I'm going to go with either Elsie or Saint-14. and the contents in the Chronicon are just twisted wishes. Amanda wants her friend back, Drifter wants to never be hungry again, Ikora wants her strength tested, Cayde-7 exists, etc. The only real one would be Scribe Savat's entry about Eris being the Hive Queen.
