The connection between the Cabal Emperor and the Black Garden just got clearer...

After combing through some of the ghost scannable for clues recently as to why I may have finally located a scannable on Nessus with some answers. "A Conflux that’s directly connected to Mars. The Vex there are having a heck of a time with the Red Legion, it seems like. “Garden gate gone. Bay lost. Bastion fallen.” Huh." Garden Gate must mean the garden is sealed off from access. A defensive mechanism for sure unless the network deemed a more credible threat elsewhere and closed it off to focus troops elsewhere. Bay lost. This is an indication for six potential sites on Mars honestly, but I think the "bay" is the teleporter underground in the old subway station or the conflux which charged the gate eye. Both have respective "bays" and both are sites where the Vex contested strongly. Losing those ground would have significance, but the reason also for the transmission to Nessus- regroup on Nessus. Bastion fallen. That can only be the location right before the heart. The bastion of the black garden more specifically. One other thing: The vex knew the black garden and its corresponding bastion had the darkness to reconstruct those statues. So if the Cabal is pressing inwards like that at Calus' direction? Then we have the answer for the barge and menagerie potentially: Calus is reaching out to secure Vex installations in preparation for the oncoming war. We do not need time warping Cabal on the field. There is no escaping that. Es[ecially if they learn how to do it with those giant guns on the Leviathon. They won't need a fleet to destroy us if the darkness can suppress our capabilities. My best guess for the black garden now is the heart will try and restore itself and we must wrestle the control away from a faction which seeks its power while it is dormant and sealed away.

  • <Bay is the Meridian Bay. As seen in Shadowkeep, the Vex are still in the Black Garden, and they've been working on trying to remove it from Mars. You assume the Heart can be restored on its own power. If it's a shard of Darkness, I understand, but if it's a Worm, then it's gone. The Darkness is coming and the Vex restoring the Heart seems stupid on their part. They had centuries to get to do what they wanted and it still wasn't powered up enough to kick our ass. The Darkness is a year or two away, nothing the Vex do will make a difference.>

    • The Red Legion destroyed the gate, not the Loyalists. Bastion is a Crucible map from D1, a large-scale Vex installation in the Meridian Bay area. Bay mean Meridian Bay. The Red Legion took over Firebase Rubicon and re-established the Exclusion Zone, pushing the Virgo Prohibition out. It’s unknown if the Garden is still accessible through the Freehold Transit tunnels. With the Exclusion Zone back up, few Guardians have ventured to look. Perhaps the Loyalists have attempted to take that territory, but that seems unlikely to me. The Exclusion Zone seems to be the strongest Red Legion base in the system, though their Venusian presence is unknown.

Could be wrong but I strongly believe “bay lost” is referring to Meridian Bay and the reference to Bastion is the crucible map Bastion which is a Vex stronghold Edit: this scannable was in vanilla D2, don’t think Calus relates to this in the slightest

Definitely a very interesting idea, but I think it needs correction:
"A Conflux that’s directly connected to Mars. The Vex there are having a heck of a time with the Red Legion, it seems like. “Garden gate gone. Bay lost. Bastion fallen.” Huh."
It was the Red Legion attacking, not the Loyalists. This was under Ghaul’s instruction, not Calus’. “Garden Gate gone.” Considering that this is a Vex report on Red Legion attacks, the most likely conclusion is that the Red Legion destroyed the gate. “Bay lost.” Most likely Meridian Bay, an area contested by Vex and Cabal since the Scouting Legion arrived. The Garden Gate is in The Valley of the Kings in Meridian Bay. “Bastion fallen.” Bastion is the name of a Vex/Cabal contested area in Meridian Bay filled with Vex constructions. So the most likely conclusion is that this report is about the Vex losing the battle against the Red Legion in Meridian Bay before Ghaul and the Red Legion were defeated.

    • The “bay” could also be Meridian Bay, where a ton of Cabal were. It could very well mean something came out of the Gate that made it shut down, and took over that whole area
