Flood Diary, Part 3 and 4: Gmail Ban and Forgotten Texts
Officially, there never was a Flood rebellion on #Offtopic. Unofficially, approximately twenty years after the site was created, a special detachment of the Bungie Moderation Team was dispatched to #Offtopic, with orders to eradicate an army of OldFomans that had been bred to take arms against Bungie. Their mission commander, an expert on the inner workings of #Offtopic, was a young community manager named Deej. The community manager left after the battle was over. He said something about cutting a cake with a katana. After the #Offtopic uprising, Achronos decided a forum of gmail alts was too susceptible to corruption. Future users would login from a small variety of services. Though the Oldfomans themselves remained pure, the rest of the forum gradually became more and more diverse. We never really got used to the new guys.
Around 2015 it was announced by Achronos that gmail accounts would be banned. This was the final nail in the coffin for many “oldfoman” users. I don’t really think this needs much icing as many of us have survived the D2 purge. Now imagine that but X100 since that’s how many alts every troll had on this website, myself included. Hope you enjoy. http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/11025/History-of-The-Flood/#vars!date=2004-04-15_00:00:00!
